Entry Level Operations team members provide full time vacation and training relief until their seniority permits them to successfully bid into other positions. Opportunity to work in several areas of the mill within a department labor pool (Paper Mill, Pulp Mill and Power & Recovery) and learn a variety of jobs in a large industrial worksite. The work is fast-paced, physically demanding and requires multi-tasking.

The opportunity:

The WestRock Roanoke Rapids, NC Mill is looking for candidates that have a strong commitment to working safe, are dependable, are team players, and have the ability to learn various tasks to support the operating areas of the mill.

How you will impact WestRock:

* Functions and communicates effectively in a team environment

* Follows standard operating procedures

* Follow all safety requirements of job functions

* Complies with all Environmental policies and guidelines

* Maintains good housekeeping

What you need to succeed:

* High School Diploma or equivalent required

* A minimum of two (2) years of continuous full-time work experience preferably in a manufacturing/production environment or post-secondary education

* Must be at least 18 years old

* Basic computer skills

* Ability to read a tape measure and have basic math, reading, writing and computer skills.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, have mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn manufacturing processes

* Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts

* Ability to work weekends, holidays and overtime as required

* A strong Safety mindset and a commitment to work safely

* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., navigate stairs, stand, walk, bend and kneel throughout the entire shift

* Ability to work in noisy environments, around chemicals, high heat, and be exposed to weather conditions

(Preferred Requirements)

* Pulp & Paper Manufacturing experience

* At least 2 years of manufacturing experience within the last 5 years is preferred

* Experience operating an overhead crane

* Experience operating a bobcat, lift truck, clamp truck and scissors lift

* Experience working around large moving machinery

* Experience working a rotating shift
