    Job Overview

     

    The Manager of Financial Reporting and Quality Control supports the Senior Director, Sponsored Projects Financial Operations (SPFO) in leading the quality assurance efforts related to award setup, financial reporting, invoicing, and closeout of sponsored projects. This position will ensure financial related information is accurately accounted for and proper documentation is maintained within the University’s Financial System (GMS). The Manager of Financial Reporting and Quality Control directs day-to-day accounting and reporting operations and oversees the monthly reporting and invoicing processes to ensure compliance with the terms of the awards and applicable laws and regulations. Also acts as a team leader for the Financial Analysts team, and as a resource to the faculty, principal investigators, and finance staff, providing guidance and training in the administration of sponsored agreements and to ensure that operational responsibilities are fulfilled, policies are enforced and customer service goals are reached.

     

    Work Interactions

     

    The Manager of Financial Reporting and Quality Control assists the Associate Director, Compliance and Cost Analysis on annual Uniform Guidance Audit as well as any sponsor site visits and desk reviews. The Manager of Financial Reporting and Quality Control will review grant related general ledger accounts; assist General Accounting Office (GAO) on monthly close. The Manager of Financial Reporting and Quality Control also works on special projects, as assigned, and will have direct reports under its supervision.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree required

    + Five to eight years of accounting and analysis experience

    + Five years of experience working directly with grants and contracts

    + Previous work in university or hospital setting with a medical research facility

    + Knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance, federal agency, and external sponsor accounting and reporting requirements

    + Knowledge of complex accounting system

    + Strong accounting and analytical skills; pay attention to details

    + Demonstrated knowledge and skills in computerized financial software

    + Demonstrated understanding of research administration processes

    + Knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance [2 CFR 200] and its predecessors OMB Circulars A-110, A-21, A-133, A-122; FAR, PHS Guidelines, DS2 regulations, private agency guidelines, costing principles, and University procedures

    + Strong organizational and time management skills

    + Strong oral and written communication skills

    + Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents

    + Proficiency in end user applications (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Accounting major

    + Public Accounting firm work experience

    Pay Range:

    The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

    $54,616.00 - $100,493.33

     

    Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
