• Design Engineer

    Actalent (Mount Pleasant, TN)


    Description

    This position is responsible for performing research and creating designs of a new product and improving the characteristics of existing company products. The duties will include: product design, material selection, design timeline, prototyping of new products, and tooling and fixture design.

    Responsibilities:

    - Competent using computer aided design/drafting (SolidWorks CAD) equipment and software to develop designs.

     

    - Develop engineering drawings and specifications for products using advanced drafting practices for manufacturing.

     

    - Create and revise production drawings

     

    - Design and construct drawings for new products and improvements on existing products.

     

    - Create parts lists.

     

    - Create concepts, performance, and production criteria.

     

    - Identify and select materials needed for production.

     

    - Works collaboratively with colleagues and vendors to assure proper specs, performance, upper and lower control limits, and quality standards are communicated and achieved.

     

    - Competent understanding of patents and working within/around the confines of patented claims.

     

    - Assures that new designs are delivered on time and complete.

     

    - Design, model and test prototypes for products.

     

    - Establish design briefs.

     

    - Make samples of working models for demonstrations.

     

    - Create engineering drawings for manufacturing jigs and fixtures.

     

    - Assist Quality Assurance with identifying critical dimension call outs.

     

    - Communicate with Tooling, QA, Engineering, and Manufacturing regarding new and revised prints.

     

    - Identify quality issues and implement problem resolution.

     

    - Implement hands-on solutions to product changes and implementation.

     

    - Effectively communicate with and maintain positive/professional relationships with managers and personnel within the company.

     

    - Other duties as assigned by manager

    Qualifications

    - 5 years of experience in manufacturing/production environment, automotive preferred

     

    - Basic operating knowledge of foam molding processes and equipment

     

    - Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead small cross-functional teams of varied backgrounds and skill sets

     

    - Excellent verbal and written communication skills

     

    - Excellent organizational, leadership and problem-solving abilities

     

    - Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

     

    - Self-motived and able to independently prioritize and meet deadlines with capacity to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, highly productive environment

     

    - Working knowledge and experience of up-to-date manufacturing techniques

     

    - Language: Must be fluent in English; Japanese and/or Spanish a plus

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
