    Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

    Job Description

We are seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer responsible for the design and development of electrical control systems, instrumentation, and equipment for liquid flow metering applications. This role supports research, design, implementation, and technical development of electrical hardware, embedded firmware, and supporting software for new products, with a primary focus on developing high-technology flow measurement devices—such as electromagnetic meters, ultrasonic meters, and Coriolis meters. The position emphasizes integrating emerging communication technologies to enhance usability and simplify user experiences through add-on electronics.

    Responsibilities

+ Collaborate with the Engineering team, Product Manager, Marketing Team, and Product Support Team to guide the next-generation product roadmap.

+ Work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Process Engineering teams from concept through production to optimize performance, quality, cost, and products related to instrumentation and control of fluid measurement systems.

+ Define system architecture, hardware and software specifications, schedules, cost estimates, test strategies, and design prototypes, schematics, and printed circuit boards aligned with business objectives focused on fluid measurement and monitoring.

+ Apply electrical engineering principles and analysis tools to design and implement hardware and software for flow metering products.

+ Design ultra-low power microcontroller-based digital systems, low noise/high gain analog circuits, LCD interfaces, sensor interface circuits, and wireless communication for IoT compatibility.

+ Develop low-level firmware drivers and higher-level application code in C/C++.

+ Participate in hardware and software design reviews and product validation to improve design confidence and reduce cycle time.

+ Use measurement theory, statistics, and spreadsheets to analyze prototype performance and implement linear and non-linear measurement corrections in firmware.

+ Coordinate with lab personnel to perform performance and optimization analysis on prototypes and ensure 100% feature verification testing across all product configurations.

+ Support regression testing of new software releases and bug fixes.

+ Troubleshoot circuit design or firmware issues during development and production transition.

+ Collaborate with production process engineers to create calibration, configuration, and functional test standards.

+ Support the development of test fixtures by writing design requirements for use by Quality Assurance and contract manufacturers.

+ Work with Operations and Process Engineering to ensure effective manufacturing assembly and support changes affecting production.

    Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

+ Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience including schematic capture and PCB layout.

+ Proficient with standard electronics lab equipment: Power Supplies, DVM, Oscilloscope, and Logic Analyzer.

+ Strong background in firmware code development and debugging using In-Circuit Emulators.

+ Proficiency in MS Office products, especially Excel.

+ Team-oriented with a strong understanding of team dynamics and a commitment to fostering collaboration.

+ Self-motivated and driven, with a strong work ethic and the ability to meet expectations and product schedules independently.

+ Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.

+ Willingness to mentor junior engineers in hardware and software design techniques to elevate the entire flow meter engineering team.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

+ Working knowledge of Turbine, Oval Gear, Vortex Shedding, Piston, Electromagnetic, Ultrasonic, and/or Coriolis flow meters.

+ Experience with synchronous reluctance DC-brushless motor control design and control algorithms.

+ Understanding of fluid dynamics, volumetric totalization, and flow rate measurement techniques.

+ Familiarity with antenna theory and ultrasonic transducer design theory.

+ Experience writing embedded firmware for microcontrollers in C/C++.

+ Knowledge of programming Digital Signal Processors and/or FPGAs, especially for signal cross-correlation.

+ Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.

+ Experience with high-current PCB designs (40+ Amps).

+ Familiarity with UL, IECEX, ATEX, and NSF compliance standards.

+ Experience with 3rd-party compliance testing (FCC) and debugging EMI/EMC issues at certified test labs.

+ Understanding of IoT theory and product design integration.
