Student Placement- Foster Care
Responsible to:
Assistant Director of Foster Care
Job Summary:
In their student placement in foster care, the student will develop skills in assessment, treatment planning, engagement of youths and families, and documentation. The student will also develop skills in recruitment, training and certifying foster and adoptive home. The student is responsible for supporting the emotional, physical and personal well-being of the individuals receiving services. The student will utilize effective communication and interaction skills with children, families, service providers and others to promote success and help those we serve achieve the highest possible quality of life while promoting permanency and the engagement of families.
Essential Job Duties:
+ Develop skills in overall case management and skill building services through face to face contacts with foster family and foster children.
+ Develop skills in creating treatment goals for children, utilizing historical and current available information in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
+ Assist children and youth to develop skills as defined in treatment goals
+ Provide psycho-education and wellness education
+ Communicate with family, case planning staff and medical practitioners
+ Utilize interventions drawn from evidence-based psychotherapeutic methodology
+ Schedul ing and supervis ing visits of non-custodial parents with their children.
+ Responsible for ensuring client safety under mandated reporter standards.
+ Assist with conducting Home Studies and re-certifications of foster families , as needed and participate in NTDC training, as needed.
+ Follows OLV and OCFS policies to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, or other related field
Minimum Experience Required :
Previous experience working with children and families
License/Registration/ Certifications Required:
•NYS Driver’s License
•CPR
•First Aid
Training Requirements:
+ New Hire Orientation
Physical Requirements:
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.
