The Extrusion Operato** **r is responsible for operating and controlling the extrusion process for all compounded materials. This role includes weighing and blending materials for extrusion and performing cross-functional tasks within the Color Lab to ensure maximum operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Functions:

+ Operate extrusion equipment and activate exhaust systems and scales at shift start-up.

+ Collect, weigh, and mix pigments, additives, and concentrates for extrusion.

+ Safely handle and transport materials using barrel lifters, hand trucks, forklifts, and skids.

+ Store prepared materials in designated areas using a forklift.

+ Submit color samples for supervisor approval and clean equipment and surrounding areas post-production.

+ Troubleshoot extrusion equipment and perform basic preventative maintenance (e.g., replacing fuses, blades).

+ Accurately record weights, colors, and extrusion times in logbooks and daily production reports.

+ Maintain all required documentation in company format.

+ Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Secondary Functions:

+ Assist in the bagging area and deliver materials to other buildings as needed.

+ Retrieve units from the warehouse, add necessary additives, and update inventory records.

+ Unitize colored concentrates into bags and pack finished units on pallets for shipment.

+ Maintain a clean and organized work area, including general housekeeping tasks.

+ Perform other duties as assigned when primary responsibilities are not available.

Qualifications:

+ Experience in extrusion or manufacturing preferred.

+ Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety and operational procedures.

+ Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintenance.

+ Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 250 lbs with equipment).

+ Good recordkeeping and communication skills.

Work Environment

The work environment on the manufacturing floor is characterized by strong teamwork and collaboration, safety protocols, and opportunities for growth. The schedule is 1st shift, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The atmosphere promotes mutual respect and understanding among team members, although there are areas for improvement in management and work-life balance. This is a Contract position based out of Slatersville, Rhode Island.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
