    Job Title: Electrical & Controls Technician

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Controls Technician to perform routine and emergency maintenance on analog electrical, electronic, and pneumatic equipment and networks. This role involves the collection, processing, transmission, reception, and recording of data, as well as regulating the operation of final control elements. You will conduct periodic inspections, testing, adjustments, calibrations, and servicing activities necessary to ensure the proper operation of process instrumentation and control systems. You will also perform operational systems tests and fault diagnostics to identify and correct failures, conduct acceptance tests of new equipment, and inspect installations for conformance with plans and specifications.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform complex maintenance tasks involving analog and digital equipment.

    + Communicate effectively with operations and maintenance personnel.

    + Repair defective equipment or install parts to bring equipment back into service.

    + Install, maintain, and test LV/MV electrical equipment including AC/DC Motors and Motor Controls, Switchgear, Transformers, Load Break Switch Distribution Equipment, Fuses, Power Circuit Breakers, Load Centers, and Breaker Panels.

    + Install, maintain, and test control and instrumentation equipment including Plant PLC Hardware, Controllers, Relays, HMI Panels, Communication Modules, Instrumentation & Sensors, Control Valves, Actuators, and Limit Switches.

    + Read and interpret plans, schematics, process control flow diagrams, system/network drawings, detail drawings, and wiring diagrams.

    + Set up and operate shop and portable tools to accomplish tasks.

    + Use a range of electrical test instruments including Tic Tracer, DVOM, Clamp Amp, 4-20ma Signal Generators, etc.

    + Support efforts to maximize equipment availability to the Production Department.

    + Perform work following NFPA70E Electrical Procedures and Plant Safety Standards.

    + Conduct front-line maintenance and diagnostics on Plant PLC Hardware.

    + Perform electric motor maintenance and testing.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum five years of industrial electrical and controls maintenance experience.

    + Proficiency with instrumentation and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), preferably Siemen.

    + Knowledge of NEC Codes.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Current Journeyman or Master Electrician License preferred but not required.

    Work Environment

     

    As a Controls Technician, you will experience both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. This role exposes you to noise, vibration, and hazards, including proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, extreme cold, and chemicals.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Permanent position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $70720.00 - $72800.00/yr.

     

    10 paid holidays, vacation accrual, 0-5 hours of OT weekly, good company benefits plan for health, vision, dental, 401K

     

    Workplace Type

     

    This is a fully onsite position in Chesapeake,VA.
