Job Title: Materials Tester
Job Description
As a Materials Tester, you will work primarily in the field, collecting samples of concrete and soil to ensure the stability of the ground for construction purposes. Your role involves using wheelbarrows and measuring cylinders to gather the correct amount of material for testing. If you have geology experience, your focus will be on the soil's suitability for building rather than its composition for plant growth.
Responsibilities
+ Perform field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
+ Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractors regarding project requirements and testing results.
+ Transport material samples to the laboratory for further analysis.
+ Prepare and submit written and digital reports documenting observations and test results.
+ Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
+ Adhere to strict safety standards and company protocols.
+ Assist with basic testing and observation duties under close supervision.
+ Provide clear documentation of findings and communicate results to the Project Manager.
+ Participate in a structured training program with increasing responsibilities over time.
+ May assist with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites.
Essential Skills
+ 1+ years of material testing experience in concrete and soil.
+ Ability to push a 50-60 pound wheelbarrow frequently.
+ Basic math skills including addition and subtraction.
+ 2 years of tenure in previous work history.
+ Clean driving record to pass driving test, and drug test.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ ACI Certificate.
+ Experience in concrete and soil testing.
+ Familiarity with construction materials testing and geotechnical procedures.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, Iowa.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
