Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating equipment to convert HDPE film into bags. You will navigate a production management system, understand printing job specifications, load film, and adjust machinery for optimal performance. Additionally, you will troubleshoot stoppages, perform quality checks, and complete necessary documentation.

Responsibilities

+ Setup and operate bag machines and support equipment.

+ Navigate and input information accurately into the production management system.

+ Understand and execute printing job requirements according to specifications.

+ Load film and adjust machinery for size.

+ Mount cylinders and adjust pressure, tension, and ink distribution.

+ Troubleshoot stoppages and breakdowns, communicating clearly with personnel.

+ Perform quality checks and complete related documentation.

+ Operate extrusion lines following safety and quality procedures.

+ Ensure the use of proper materials and monitor roll weights.

+ Assure proper processing and labeling.

Essential Skills

+ Machine operation experience (1-3 years ideal, willing to train).

+ Troubleshooting skills.

+ Startup and changeover expertise.

+ Experience in extrusion.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motions for extended periods.

Work Environment

The work environment involves a rotating 12-hour shift schedule from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM. The facility is hot and dirty, with no windows and the smell of burnt plastic.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
