    Associate Director, Operations Planning -Health Systems Operations -Full-Time- Days (Hybrid)

     

    The purpose of this Associate Director of Health Systems and Process Improvement role is to ensure that complex performance improvement projects and programs across the health system are executed in a high quality, timely, and effective manner. Create programs and structures to maintain and support the health system’s strategic and financial goals by managing and utilizing available operational, clinical and financial tools. Proactively identify cost reduction and financial improvement opportunities. Partner with service line leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives and provide documented financial savings to the institution and executive leadership. Conduct and oversee staff providing workflow, and strategic operational consultation to hospital and health system leaders to drive operational efficiency, better resource utilization (labor and supply resources) and financial improvements across the organization. Support the day-to-day operations of the Health Systems Operations department.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelors' degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Health Care-clinical or administration, or related quantitative field required; Masters Degree preferred. . Masters Degree preferred. Certification preferred and/or working knowledge of Lean/ Six Sigma methodologies

    + 8+ years direct operations management, performance improvement, or consulting experience in one or more of the following areas: Strategic planning, operations management, quality improvement, process improvement including at least two years of managing staff or stakeholders in a complex organization

    + Project management or Lean certification preferred and/or working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies

    + Microsoft Office suite – expert proficiency; Experience with advanced software packages including statistical software (Minitab, SPSS, STATA, etc.) preferred

     

    Compensation Statement

     

    The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $104,995.00 - $153,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

     

    Non-Bargaining Unit, 614 - Health System Operations - MSH, Mount Sinai Hospital

    Responsibilities

    + Leads, manages and provides direction and coordination, to senior leaders in the formulation, implementation and administration of current and long-range projects and programs (e.g. financial improvement and organization redesign) in alignment with system priorities.

    + Manages and deploys staff in conjunction with directors to drive successful execution of strategic initiatives from scoping, selecting an appropriate methodology, identifying KPIs, performing and interpreting analyses, monitoring progress, implementation and re-measurement Champions team development by fostering a culture of continuous learning and mentoring future leaders to build internal capacity for operational excellence.

    + Generates insights that inform strategic decision-making, advancing performance improvement efforts, and delivering tools, training, and analyses aligned with departmental needs and system-wide priorities.

    + Builds and maintains strong relationships with clinical, operational, and corporate stakeholders across the health system to ensure alignment, foster buy-in, and drive successful execution of strategic initiatives.

    + Collaborates with other Health System Operations department teams on data strategy, tool development, and the execution of enterprise initiatives.

    + Utilizes strong analytical acumen, exceptional project management capabilities, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable strategies that drive results from planning through implementation

    + Support short and long term operational/strategic business activities - by developing, enhancing and maintaining project information and models. Also develop and implement effective/strategic business solutions through research and analysis of data and business processes. Ensures that operational improvement strategies support equitable resource allocation and contribute to reducing variation in care and outcomes across the system

    + Responsible for monitoring/documenting key performance and process metrics (i.e. cost, quality, throughput, etc.) across initiatives ensuring timely status updates to key leadership and stakeholders; effectively meets deadlines and/or communicates constraints.

    + Manages, defines and develops best practices and internal standard operating procedures to ensure the timely and effective completion of process improvement, labor productivity improvement and operational improvement initiatives.

    + Leads project teams, identifies major phases, implementation steps, key stakeholders, resource needs, and potential obstacles. Creates comprehensive project plans using standard project management tools and templates to document and track progress, ensuring consistent methodology across all initiatives.

    + Encourages collaboration among divisions to effectively coordinate and implement operational activities; facilitates and encourages effective communications across functional areas. Identifies opportunities to advance innovation to integrate automation, digital tools, and emerging technologies into operational workflows to enhance efficiency and scale impact.

    + Supports the development, enhancement and adoption of executive-level dashboards using a balanced approach that incorporates financial, quality, operational, workforce, or broader value-based metrics. Interprets complex, balanced metric sets to inform strategic decisions.

    + In conjunction with directors, provides technical guidance and/or delivers training on program management, project management, and continuous process improvement tools and methodologies to staff at all levels across the organization.

    + Maintains current knowledge of health care delivery trends and evidence-based solutions for improving the delivery of care and services
