**Job Title:** Mechanical Engineer III

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

+ Generate detailed schematics for HVAC systems based on instructions and pre-established guidelines.

+ Ability to independently conduct job site surveys with complete understanding of the intent of the project and be able to analyze and propose design solutions and installation sequencing.

+ Independently conduct audits and surveys as needed. Record identifying equipment function, tags, location, capacities, photos, etc. Trace piping and ductwork onto field notes.

+ Convert field surveys into useable formats for plan and project development. Select size of replacement/retrofit/new equipment to replace aged or obsolete equipment.

+ Use AutoCAD to develop plans.

+ Independently recommend engineered mechanical solutions and designs, coordinate and quality check outsourced engineering resources, determine and process utility incentives, prepare permit documents for mechanical projects, perform load and energy calculations, and other engineering duties.

+ Participate in the company’s project improvement process by refining standard design practices, calculation spreadsheet templates, updating and establishing standard procedures and practices, and collecting supporting documentation for various projects to be used as references for future projects.

+ Mentor or support Mechanical Engineers and provide guidenace.

**Job Specifications** (incl. Education requirements, minimal experience, computer skills required, etc.)

+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

+ 5+ years of experience with HVAC Design.

+ PE license, or in the process of obtaining PE licensure.

+ Be proficient with Permitting submittal requirements in the Mechanical field.

+ Computer savvy, with advanced knowledge of computers and handling software. Proficient with AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and other related software applications.

+ Demonstrated proficiency with energy simulation software. Developed understanding of energy management concepts.

+ Developed understanding of HVAC Systems and Components (Hot Water, Chilled Water, Condensing Water, Chillers, Fans, Heat Pumps, etc.). Increasing awareness of control sequences, optimal start/stop, PID loop control, programming.

**Compensation Range:** $125,000 - $140,000 per year
