Job Summary: Working under the supervision of a pharmacist, assist in medication preparation and distribution within the hospital setting, including patient rooms and operating rooms. Participate in medication error prevention by reporting prevented and actual medication-related errors. Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs.

General Pharmacy Technician duties include:

+ Prepare sterile products, injections and IV infusions

+ Fill automated dispensing cabinets on nursing units

+ Correctly distribute and account for controlled substances usage

+ Deliver medications to nursing units including surgical rooms

+ Stock medications shelves, manage inventory dating, return excess stock to inventory, properly dispose expired medications or return to manufacturer

+ Respond and triage telephone inquiries

+ Receive orders and prepare and package medications for outside clinics

+ Build various medication kits for use during medical emergencies

+ Performing pharmacy cleaning and documentation

+ Assist with training of staff

+ Other duties and special projects as assigned by Director of Pharmacy to assist with preparation and delivery of patient medications

+ Work in a highly collaborative environment including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technician, Nurses, Physicians, and other medical professionals

Requirements:

+ High school diploma, or equivalent

+ Certified Pharmacy Technician credential in good standing with PTCB

+ Missouri Pharmacy Technician license, in good standing (or eligible)

+ Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience (preferred, but not required)
