    *LOCATION: * Burlington, KS – Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station

    *PAY RANGE: *

    Sr Strategic Sourcing Consultant- $72,900 (min) - $97,200 (mid)

    Lead Strategic Sourcing Consultant- $86,00 (min) - $114,700 (mid)

    *Scheduled Work Hours:*Wolf Creek works 4X10 Monday -Thursday. Position works onsite primarily and remote up to 1x/week allowed as work permits and Director approval OR work 1-2 days Wolf Creek, 1-2 days either TGO (Topeka) or 1KC (Kansas City), and 1 day remote as work permits and Director approval.

    *Position Summary:*

    The Strategic Sourcing Consultant position is responsible for sourcing and contracting for the company’s complex (high-dollar, high-risk, high-visibility, mission-critical, multi-site and/or enterprise-wide) products and services, typically in support of designated customer groups or categories of spend in accordance with established policies and procedures. This position specifically supports Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating site in Burlington, KS.

     

    *Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities: *

    • Lead, source, direct, and negotiate “one-time” complex materials and services needs in a manner that supports business partner requirements and a long-term category strategy.

    • Participate in cross-functional teams under the direction of the Mgr Procurement to source, negotiate, and contract for products and services.

    • Develop RFPs consistent with needs of the business, using knowledge, analysis and strategies.

    • Serve as the single point of contact (customers and suppliers) during RFP process leading pre-bid meetings, responding to supplier inquiries, etc. Update stakeholders of project plans and status. Identify potential suppliers (including diverse suppliers), evaluating qualifications and internal support for inclusion.

    • Lead cross-functional teams in developing evaluation criteria. Develop and execute negotiation strategy in collaboration with the strategic sourcing team. Prepare commercial evaluation of proposals, analyze pricing proposals or work with analysts on evaluation of proposals involving high data volumes. Recommend award strategy.

    • Develop contract documents consistent with company policies and procedures that reflect the negotiated agreement, reduces business and legal risks, and captures desired long-term outcomes. Review contracts with stakeholders to explain and manage specific risks and assure agreement with proposed terms and conditions.

    • Serve as the subject matter expert for assessing issues relating to completed contracts, analyzing requirements and options for resolution, or referring as appropriate to the appropriate Procurement Manager, Legal, etc.

    • Serve as the initial contact for questions from suppliers and stakeholders regarding executed contracts. Respond or refer inquiries to the responsible sourcing personnel, as appropriate.

    *Education and Experience Requirements:*

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or other business-related field is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered. An advanced degree or an advanced Supply Chain or Project Mgmt. certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM, CPSC, PMP) is preferred.

    • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively increasing responsibility in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering or business-related operations is required. Relevant experience in energy, utilities, manufacturing or construction industry is preferred.

    • Demonstrated ability to execute multiple complex, high-dollar, high-visibility, high risk, mission critical or other highly significant sourcing and contracting events concurrently in a matrix organization.

    • Deep understanding of procurement, risk management, negotiating and contracting principles and best practices including applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

    • Accomplished financial and analytical skills, strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and influence skills, and experience in enhancing value through negotiations,

    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, Project, Outlook and PowerPoint.

    • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials is a plus or other supply chain management/ERP software.

    *Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:*

    • Advanced knowledge of the role of sourcing and contracting in meeting company goals, and how supply chain management creates value for the enterprise with a good understanding of defined strategies.

    • Accomplished in application of risk assessment, procurement contracting provisions and contracting processes, and how to leverage optimal outcomes with long-term best value results.

    • Strong negotiator with demonstrated ability to develop and lead and execute negotiations that generate economic value and reduce business and legal risk.

    • Depending on specific assignments and/or focus, an in-depth knowledge or understanding of the utilities industry operations, large construction, information technology, or other enterprise initiatives.

    • Strong ability to influence, effectively tailoring messages to a wide variety of internal and external audiences to generate broad understanding and support.

    • Knowledge and understanding of the operations, needs, and preferences of a designated customer group (e.g., Delivery, Generation, etc.) is desired.

    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, address and advance multiple sourcing events and issues concurrently in a fast-paced environment.

    • Strong customer focus and advocate.

    • Ability to assess, negotiate and resolve complex issues, optimizing outcomes.

    • Promote collaboration and teamwork within cross-functional teams and with other work groups.

    • Ability to measure, assess and report outcomes.

    *Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: *

     

    Successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be able to pass NRC nuclear badging process.

     

    *Working Conditions: *

     

    The working conditions for this position will mostly be in a standard office building location. This position is inside with temperature-controlled conditions. It requires a large amount of sitting and computer work on a daily basis. There will be occasions where meetings are held in other facilities that include energy centers, service centers, training centers, and corporate offices located in Wichita, Topeka, and Kansas City. Position may require work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines or plant outage emergencies.
