BioDot is uniquely focused on the specialized requirements of Rapid Test / BioSensor / Lyophilization and Clinical Laboratory development and manufacturing environments. BioDot is currently experiencing growth and we currently have the immediate need for a Field Service Engineer to work out of our Irvine, California headquarters. Engineers will be trained at Irvine, and work with a collaborative team to resolve instrumentation issues and support BioDot’s customer database.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
+ Assist with mechanical and electrical inspection and troubleshooting of instrumentation (mechanical, electrical, software and liquid handling).
+ Computer/software configuration and integration with auxiliaries, inspection cameras, etc.
+ Repair, service and perform preventative maintenance on BioDot instruments.
+ Customer interaction specifically to train instrument operation and maintenance.
+ Field Service travel for installation, preventative maintenance, and service of instruments at customer locations and internally service equipment.
+ Unpack and install BioDot products at the customer site.
+ Instructs customers in the basic operation and maintenance of the systems.
+ Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair any BioDot system.
+ Gather required paperwork from customer to confirm service work is complete and documented and ensure documentation is archived through home office.
+ Assume responsibility for continued customer satisfaction, and coordinate all activities with the customer and appropriate sales manager
+ Exercise judgment within broadly defined practices in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
+ Respond to online technical support inquiries, including direct interaction with customers by email and phone.
+ Follow protocols & test methods to measure instrument performance such as accuracy or precision of motion, dispensing, cutting, and/or lamination.
+ Support BioDot Sales efforts by selling service contracts, system upgrades, accessory items and spare parts.
+ Assists in writing technical documents such as service manuals or application notes.
+ Report activities, maintain local spare parts inventory, record travel expenses and timecards.
+ Be accountable in maintaining an assigned tool kit which is issued as an asset and needs to be protected and managed by the FSE individually.
+ Work as part of a cross-functional global support team which includes daily interaction with design engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, production personnel and sales team members.
+ When not dispatched to customer accounts, should support Irvine-based needs, which could include Assembly, QC, Kitting, etc.
+ Professionally represent BioDot.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ Technical certification or military experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree in mechanical (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), or Biotechnology (BS) is preferred but not required.
+ Candidates must be able to work independently and as a team member.
+ Excellent customer interaction skills, verbal and written communication
+ Ability to work independently in a remote setting, without supervision is required.
+ Minimum of Two to five years of experience with analytical instrumentation, laboratory automation, liquid handling systems, micro fluidics, electronics, mechanical engineering, or computers is highly desirable.
+ Schematic interpretation, and troubleshooting skills are a plus. Software integration and inspection camera integration are favorable.
+ PC skills (Office, Google Docs, database usage, help desk software), and organizational abilities are required.
+ Up to 50% national travel may be required.
The compensation range for this role is $70,000- $80,000 base salary. This role may be eligible for the company's discretionary bonus program.
