    Summary You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER in the PRODUCTION DIVISION DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC. Responsibilities You will connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. You will report to supervisor on status and progress of work and causes for work delays. You will work as a journey level maintenance mechanic performing predominantly new work as well as maintenance and repair work on buildings, exterior and interior structures and related utilities, facilities and components. You will install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronics equipment of moderate complexity or a system of limited complexity. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Installing, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment; 2) Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system; 3) Inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with National Electric Codes, Unified Facilities Criteria, State and Local requirements, etc.; 4) Following blueprints and manufacturers' specifications, uses hand tools and specialized test instruments; and 5) Calibrating testing instruments and maintaining records of repairs, calibrations and tests. NAVFAC MIDLANT is a regionalized command. The incumbent serving in this position may at any time be reassigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area as a condition of employment. May be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires. May be required to serve on-call duty on a rotational basis. When on-call, incumbent is required to carry a duty cell phone and duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.
