    Are you an experienced Safety and Health professional seeking a career that combines professional achievement with a sense of purpose? The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, solution-oriented, and enthusiastic professional to join our consultation and education department and serve as a Safety and Health Consultant.

     

    The Safety and Health Consultant position at Iowa OSHA Consultation and Education focuses on ensuring the safety and health of Iowa's workforce by assisting smaller private and public employers in compliance with OSHA regulations by identifying safety and health hazards. The role involves working collaboratively with a team to provide education, identify workplace hazards, and implement best practices across various industries including construction sites statewide.

     

    This position is ideal for individuals passionate about making a positive impact on workplace safety and health.

    Responsibilities

    - Assist smaller private and public employers in complying with OSHA regulations.

     

    - Identify and offer education on workplace hazards and best practices.

     

    - Work collaboratively with the consultation program manager and other staff to develop corrective actions for safety issues.

     

    - Conduct safety training sessions for various stakeholders.

     

    - Travel statewide to provide consultation services to businesses.

    - Knowledge of OSHA Standards and workplace safety best practices.

     

    - Strong organizational skills and a process-driven mindset.

     

    - Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in team-building.

     

    - Effective communication skills across multiple stakeholder levels.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

     

    Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in civil, mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering, or industrial safety education;

    OR

    an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting experience equal to one year of full time work for a public or private organization where the preponderance of duties were directly related to safety enforcement for each year of the required education to a maximum substitution of four years.
