    The Position

    Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.

     

    Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

     

    The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for a full-time Social Services Program Specialist 3 position in Carson City, Las Vegas, or Reno, depending on the location of the selected candidate. This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the following program: Facility Outreach Community Integration Services/ Money Follows the Person (FOCIS/MFP). The incumbent will oversee a variety of programs that connect individuals to essential long-term services and support to stay in their homes and communities longer. This role partners with community-based organizations and other state programs to deliver services through grants and subawards. The primary responsibilities include all aspects of program oversight, including but not limited to development of policies, training, outreach, state and federal reports, and budgets. In addition, this position will support program evaluation, grant writing, and compliance.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

     

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Special Requirements

    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

     

    This position requires statewide travel up to 25% of the time.

     

    A valid drivers license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
