    The Associate Director, Global Medical Affairs Strategy & Execution supports the strategic objectives of the J&J Innovative Medicine Cardiopulmonary Global Medical Affairs (GMAF) team. They are responsible for cross-indication strategy and process oversight and support the strategic objectives of the Global Medical Affairs function. The Associate Director, GMAF Execution will partner across functions and regions on strategy and operational aspects of the Global Medical Affairs Function, including:

     

    + Consolidated Global Medical Affairs plan that meets prioritized regional needs

    + Global Medical Affairs Team coordination

    + Development and execution of the publication strategy/global publication plans

    + Development and execution of GCSO funded medical strategies including but not limited to:

    + Thought Leader Engagement (advisory boards and consultancy)

    + Oversight of Scientific Content Development (Scientific Communications Platform, core slide decks)

    + Sponsorships

    + Congress planning

    + IIS/Collaborative Study Intake and review with appropriate governance committees

    + Alternate pathways to medicine, when applicable

    + Strategic initiatives including implementation and process improvements

    + Budget management (internal and across any relevant alliances)

    Major Duties and Responsibilities include:

    + Leading the development and implementation of Global Medical Affairs strategic business priorities, partnering cross-functionally and cross-regionally with functional business leaders to ensure alignment and sustainable implementation

    + Partnering across GMAF, the regions, and key central functions (Legal, HCC, Privacy, Procurement, etc.) to execute business processes ensuring efficient/effective business operations for GMAF.

    + Project management of functional or cross-TA initiatives. Liaise between Functional leadership, project teams, and/or vendors. Achieve operational objectives by coordinating and contributing as required by the project. Responsible for creating and executing project plans, monitoring project status, schedules, budgets and business results and revisions as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements

    + Management of the day-to-day operational aspects of the GMAF Cardiopulmonary budget internally and across relevant alliances. Managing financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling and tracking expenditures, analyzing variances, initiating corrective actions, and accruals.

    + Ownership of Global Medical Affairs business systems including ongoing oversight, improvement, support, and, as necessary, development of new systems.

    + Management of project metrics as necessary (e.g., dashboards, etc.) and provision of suggestions for improving quality, productivity, and goals. Development plans to address corrective actions.

    + Management of GCSO/GMAF Systems including sourcing and overseeing contract support as required to support GCSO/GMAF (e.g., contract coordinators, contract staff, etc.).

    + Leading designated GMAF process development as the accountable process owner.

    + Performance of other work-related duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Education Requirements:

    + A minimum of a BA/BS required. Advanced degree (MS, MBA, MPH, PharmD, PhD) is preferred.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.

    + Experience in a medical, clinical, or scientific environment is required.

    + Project/Program management skills are required.

    + Ability to plan and tightly manage the scope of multiple projects while balancing multiple stakeholders is required.

    + Ability to be a self-starter with strong organizational skills are required.

    + Ability to drive projects forward to completion while maintaining focus on the long- term strategy is required.

    + Sound financial acumen and experience managing resources and budgets is required.

    + Proven experience in driving results in a highly complex and rapidly changing environment is required.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Previous vendor management experience is preferred.

    + Experience in strategic planning, business planning, and cross-functional collaboration and alignment is preferred.

    + Global mindset with proven ability to partner cross-culturally and regionally is preferred.

    + Experience with external scientific engagement including congress planning/execution, professional society interactions, academic institution interactions, and advisory boards is preferred.

    + Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance principles and local/regional regulations and laws is preferred.

    + Experience working across inter-company alliances (e.g. R&D collaborations, licensing agreements, etc.) is preferred.

    Key Working Relationships:

    + Internal: Medical Affairs VPs, Sr. Directors, & Directors, Research & Development Leadership, Global & Regional Marketing Directors, Regulatory Leaders, Market Access, Commercial, Information Technology, Finance, Health Care Compliance, Global Services, other extended internal stakeholders & functions (e.g. safety, biostats, etc.)

    + External: Key Opinion Leaders, academic institutions, medical organizations, agencies, consultants, co-development/co-licensing partners.

    + This position is located in Raritan, NJ, USA and requires a minimum of 3-days per week onsite. No relocation assistance will be provided.

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000 to $235,750.

    Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.
