Job Description** **VA Easter Colorado Health Care System
LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE/ LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE (LPN/LVN)
Qualifications & Experience
+ High School education
+ Current LPN or LVN license in the State of Colorado (with no limitations, stipulations, orpending adverse actions)
+ American Heart Association BLS
+ Has been practicing as an LPN for at least one year within the pastthree years.
Essential Functions
+ Can provide nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients.
+ Has no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with theperformance of assigned duties.
+ Perform quality control checks and operator maintenance for a variety ofpatient care equipment
+ Assist in identifying patient needs and implementing the plan of careDocument care given and patient response in the medical recordPossess knowledge of actions and usual dosages of most usedemergency drugs and their location
+ Assist in patient/family education regarding prescribedmedications/therapies/diagnostic procedures
+ Participate in monitoring quality of care according to processionalstandards and established procedures
+ Respond to telephone inquiries regarding ward services and/or follow-upancillary reports
+ Assist with ward related administrative tasks
+ Administer oxygen, intravenous fluids, and prescribed medications inaccordance with VA policy
+ Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and otherindividual differences in the workforce, in the Veteran population, and inthe Community
+ Has no health or physical disability restrictions that interfere with theperformance of assigned duties.
