We are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department. The ideal candidate is compassionate, humble and honest. You will utilize your skills and learn new and advanced techniques while working with a team that functions with a great deal of autonomy and responsibility. In addition to exemplary specialty and emergency medicine, we maintain a collaborative and collegial working environment that supports continued growth and learning at our hospital at all levels. At BluePearl Olympia, you will join a group of veterinary professionals that support and encourage each other.

**Schedule** : Tuesday-Friday 8:00am-6:00pm

**Pay VA** I: $20.83 - $30.09 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential

Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $8.00 Shift Differential

Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50 Shift Differential

As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Participate in client communication and education

• Admit and discharge surgical patients

• Prepare patients for surgery and setup surgical suites

• Setup, use and maintain surgical equipment

• Scrub in for surgical procedures

• Use hands-free techniques to perform digital radiographs

• Perform diagnostic procedures including in-house laboratory testing

• Accurately keep medical records

• Perform venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement

• Perform enteral and parenteral medication administration

• Provide basic life support during a CPR event

• Mentor and train other associates and externs
