    Broad Function

     

    The Assistant Director of Continuing Education and Workforce Innovation supports the strategic planning, development, and implementation of workforce programs that align with regional labor market needs and institutional goals. This role works collaboratively with internal departments, external partners, and employers to identify emerging industry trends, develop responsive training solutions, and promote career pathways for students. The Assistant Director also assists in evaluating program effectiveness, and expanding the college’s presence as a leader in workforce and economic development. The Assistant Director will provide a broad range of support to plan, organize, and manage all activities related to all assigned departments/areas, as aligned to the College's Strategic Plan and Goals, using the highest of ethical standards.

    Major Responsibilities

    + Assist in administration and supervision of all aspects of Continuing Education & Workforce Innovation to include planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and directing community education, adult training programs, school-based programs, and short-term adult workforce training.

    + Plan, implement, and evaluate non-credit and open enrollment courses to meet personal enrichment, career preparation, and professional development needs.

    + Conducting industry research to identify emerging trends and develop proposals for new programs and courses.

    + Assist with the development and delivery of existing and new non-credit programs in a variety of modalities and settings in Greenwich School District (Washington County) (or other areas as assigned), including live virtual, and fully online.

    + Manage and maintain documentation required for courses registered with New York State.

    + Act as the primary point of contact for faculty and the business community for the internship documentation and expansion process and any related internship grants.

    + Individually promote courses to industry partners to increase enrollment in conjunction with the Continuing Education Program Specialist.

    + In conjunction with the college grant writer, assist with the research, writing and coordination, management and reporting of grant-funded workforce training opportunities.

    + Conduct labor market and occupational data analysis to inform program development and

     

    strategic planning.

     

    + Have primary responsibility for planning and organizing the StartUp ADK entrepreneurship and small business support course. Engage in planning to expand StartUp ADK 2.0 in Saratoga.

    + Act as liaison between college and community organizations as needed.

    + Coordinate with academic departments and continuing education units to align credit and non- credit offerings with career pathways.

    + Maintain contact with local businesses and organizations to identify business and community needs based on industry trends, changing technology, and job market analysis. Promote courses and programs, and applied learning opportunities for students.

    + Act as the primary point of contact for community members and the business community for the apprenticeship programs.

    + Collaborate with the Director to take developed concepts and build then into fully executed workforce bootcamp programs. Provide success coaching support to all enrolled students. Act as the primary point of contact for extended programming such as Manufacturing Day, Let’s Go STEM, History Day, and any other community/school-based programs under the direction of Continuing Education.

    + Track and report on program performance metrics, including enrollment, completion, and job placement outcomes

    + Acts in the absence of the Director of Continuing Education & Workforce Innovation.

    + Participate on college and community committees as appropriate.

    + Other duties as assigned by the President.

    Required Skills

    Successful candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills, project management skills, and proficiency with all standard MS Office products. The ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others internally and externally is required. Experience with workforce development and delivery of programs for adults is preferred. Experience with grant management is preferred.

    Educational Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree a plus.

    Years of Experience

    1-3 years of workforce experience combined with demonstrated experience in a college administrative position. And/Or 5-7 years of experience in a leadership position in higher education.

     

    Salary Range

    $54,443 - $61,249 annually

    The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as SUNY Adirondack’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
