    Some of what you'll be doing:

    As an Airfield Crew member, you will perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and minor construction work, as well as respond to emergencies at SEA Airport.

     

    + You will perform maintenance on runways, taxiways, ramps, roads, and parking lot pavement.

    + You will be responsible for communicating on two-way radios with other agencies working in and around airport property (i.e. Air Traffic Control Tower).

    + You will maintain the landscaping and field mowing.

    + You will be part of the inclement weather team (Snow Team) and respond in emergencies to preform snow removal and other duties.

    + You will perform underground utility investigations, record keeping, and reporting.

    + You will perform minor underground utility repairs and preventative maintenance.

    + You will operate and maintain equipment at a high level of safety.

    Who you are:

    + **Experienced** – You have five (5) years of Journey level experience in a maintenance or construction field.

    + **Desired** – We hope you have a valid Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or A, with Air Brake, tanker, and hazardous material endorsements and/or a Washington State Traffic Control Card.

    + **CDL Requirement** – You will be required to participate in the Port of Seattle Drug and Alcohol Program as required by the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration. This may include submitting an additional application disclosing 10 years of employment and 3 years of driver history, MVR verification, 3-year drug and alcohol reference check, pre-employment drug test, and ongoing participation in a random drug and alcohol test program.

    + **Commercial Driver License** – Candidate may be disqualified for a conviction or citation of any of the following during the past 5 years:

    + More than two (2) moving violations and/or at-fault accidents of any kind

    + Speeding over 15mph above the speed limit

    + Reckless driving

    + Negligent driving

    + Driving while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs

    + License suspended / revoked / cancelled / restricted

    + Hit and run

    + Vehicular homicide

    + Vehicular assault

    + Eluding law enforcement

    + Leaving the scene of an accident

    + **Equipment Knowledge** – You are able to use multiple different types of equipment including front-end loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, back-hoes, skid steers, excavators, jetting equipment, push cameras, aerial lift equipment, snowplows, sanders, roadside sweepers, field mowers, weed eaters, backpack blowers, pressure washers, pavement breakers, chipping guns, drills, traffic control devices, as well as other miscellaneous hand tools.

    + **Communication** – You are able to work from written and verbal instructions and be able to communicate by radio with peers, supervisors, and the air traffic control tower.

    + **Safety** – You follow all established safety requirements that are needed to perform the work.

    + **Teamwork** – You are a strong team-oriented person and willing to help your team to get tasks completed.

    What else you need to know:

    + **Driver’s License** – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, with a minimum of a class B CDL with Air Brake or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.

    + **Work Schedule** – You are required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies and inclement weather.

    + **Work Environment** – You will generally work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces.

    + **Washington State Residency Requirement** – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

    + **Overtime Eligible** – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.

    + **Safety Requirements** – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

    + **Security Requirements** – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.

    + **Union Representation** – This position is represented by the Laborers’ union, Local 242.
