    As Lead Laboratory Technologist, you will support one or more specialized tracks of job responsibility. You will serve as a coach and technical resource to team members, ensuring compliance, problem solving, proper education and cohesion throughout the unit. This position offers a great way to hone your management and supervisory skills in an innovative laboratory environment.

     

    A caregiver in this position works days, from 7:00am-3:30pm.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Perform laboratory testing compliantly and maintain regulatory knowledge and awareness of specific job duties.

    + Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.

    + Assume responsibility for any quality control or quality assurance issues as they pertain to specific job duties.

    + Maintain instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.

    + Perform proficiency testing in compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.

    + Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or immediately notify the General Supervisor, Technical Supervisor, Clinical Consultant or Laboratory Director.

    + Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

    + Function as an educator and provides instruction and training in theory, technical skills, safety protocols and the application of laboratory test protocols to students, employees and residents if in the Education Track.

    + Conduct lab specific orientation for new employees and develop and coordinate laboratory continuing education program.

    + Assist in the validation/verification of new assays under the direction of the Medical Director.

    + Perform validation/verification analysis and collect, analyze and prepare data for Medical Director review.

    + Write technical procedures and submit to Medical Director for review and the Laboratory Director for approval.

    + Train medical technologists in new testing procedures and assist with implementation of newly developed clinical tests.

    + Effectively resolve daily technical and theoretical problems, solve technical problems and serves as a technical resource for the laboratory testing personnel, supervisors and staff.

    + Assist with ensuring that procedure manuals are up to date and that annual reviews of procedure manuals are conducted.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    Pattern I

    + Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from a four-year college or university

    + Two years of laboratory training or experience through a Medical Technology Internship, full-time experience performing non-waived testing for the required number of years OR part-time experience performing non-waived testing, with 2080 hours equivalent to one year.

    + Demonstrated technical and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform clinical laboratory functions

    Pattern II

    + Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from a four-year college or university

    + Three years of laboratory training or experience through a Medical Technology Internship, full-time experience performing non-waived testing for the required number of years OR part-time experience performing non-waived testing, with 2080 hours equivalent to one year.

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Certification or American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) eligible
