Position Summary/Description:
This position will serve as a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator within the Department of Psychiatry. The Senior Clinical Research Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organization, conduct, and evaluation of multi-faceted clinical research protocols, including study execution, developing strategies and solutions to improve study processes and execution, providing reviews of other team members’ work product, and serving as mentor and subject matter expert. This position will have supervisory duties.
This position will be involved in the regulatory management and logistics of industry-sponsored trials in the department which have complex start up and protocols. This role will also be supervising 2 research staff members who conduct clinical trials. A current research team member is doing this work now but will be leaving this position so need a replacement to make sure the 7+ industry-sponsored trials that are underway or in start-up have a dedicated staff member for regulatory items and trial conduct.
This position will be supervised by the Director of the Center for Women’s Mood Disorders (position’s current supervisor) and will supervise two employees in the Social/Clinical Research Specialist, Journey role ( CRC position) and Social/Clinical Research Assistant, Journey (Assistant CRC position).
Education and Experience:
Prefer a candidate with clinical research experience who has worked on industry sponsored trials and is familiar with study start up and regulatory requirements for investigator-initiated studies. Prefer a candidate with supervisory or management experience. Prefer prior experience with mental health and/or women’s health. Experience with phlebotomy, wet lab processing, vital signs, ECG administration a plus.
Essential Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work and communicate with diverse populations effectively and professionally. Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. May occasionally require evening and weekend work hours.
Must be detail oriented and conscientious, and be comfortable communicating with federal agencies, staff, investigators, IRB Office, study participants, grants and contracts offices, finance offices, study sponsors, contract research organizations and other stakeholders internal and external to UNC . Demonstrated ability to work and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a diverse team and within diverse communities.
