JOB SUMMARY:

The Varsity Assistant Coach for Girls’ Gymnastics will support the vision and objectives of the gymnastics program as established by the Varsity Head Coach, in alignment with the Director of Athletics and building principal(s). The coach is responsible for helping student-athletes develop skills, strategies, and physical conditioning to achieve both individual growth and team success.

The role emphasizes commitment to fostering player development while supporting a competitive team environment. The assistant coach is expected to model and promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive character traits.

Responsibilities also include:

+ Assisting in practice planning and execution

+ Supporting athlete safety and well-being

+ Contributing to competition preparation and strategy

+ Promoting a positive and inclusive team culture

+ Staying informed on the latest coaching techniques, rules, and safety guidelines through clinics and professional development opportunities

Additional duties may be assigned by the Athletic Director or building administration.

Please note: This position is contingent upon student enrollment.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Fingerprint clearance from NYS Department of Education (NYSED)

Current First Aid Certification

Current CPR/AED Certification

Current Concussion Training Certification

Physical Education Certification or Coaching Certification in the sport applying for

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

Employment as a teacher in the Patchogue-Medford School District

Valid New York State Teaching Certification

Previous successful experience in a public-school setting
