    Job Title: Entry Level Lab Technician

    Job Description

    The Lab Technician plays a pivotal role in the Chemistry Laboratory by ensuring the integrity and traceability of food and agricultural samples for analytical testing. This position is instrumental in supporting the preparation of samples for pesticide, nutrition, and contaminant analysis, contributing directly to the lab's mission of providing high-quality, timely testing services.

    Responsibilities

    + Receive, log, and prepare samples for testing following standard operating procedures.

    + Operate equipment such as grinders, choppers, and food processors to homogenize samples.

    + Document sample details and manage storage and disposal processes.

    + Enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) with precision.

    + Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring equipment is sanitized to prevent cross-contamination.

    + Adhere to chemical safety protocols and communicate with the sample receiving team and chemists.

    + Calibrate and maintain lab equipment, logging maintenance activities.

    + Train others in sample preparation techniques and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in fast-paced environments such as food service, lab prep, manufacturing, assembly, or production.

    + Ability to follow SOPs accurately.

    + Proficiency in data entry using Excel and LIMS.

    + Capability to lift up to 30 lbs and handle allergens and dry ice safely.

    + Strong attention to detail and clear written/verbal communication skills.

    + Professional demeanor under pressure and reliability in punctuality.

    + Team-oriented and collaborative mindset with organizational skills.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + High School Diploma or GED.

    + Quick learner with adaptability and efficiency in multitasking.

    + Basic computer literacy.

    Work Environment

    The work schedule is Monday through Friday with early start times between 6:30-7:30 AM and shorter Fridays. The role involves a mix of independent and team-based tasks in a fast-paced, clean, and organized laboratory environment. Physical demands include lifting up to 30 lbs, repetitive hand/wrist motion, and exposure to dry ice, dust, and noise. Safety requirements include the use of PPE, hearing protection, and dust masks as needed. The management style is direct and supportive, focusing on quality and efficiency.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $36400.00 - $37960.00/yr.
