Yard Driver 1st Shift

Safely and efficiently moves, spots, backs-up, and inspects trailers in and around the yard for loading and unloading purposes
Major Activities
+ Moves trailers in/out of shipping and receiving doors.
+ Communicates with Clerical staff and/or Coaches/Operations Coordinators regarding moves to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
+ Performs various yard checks/audits.
+ Assists in maintaining Inbound and Outbound dock and staging areas.
+ Completes individual daily loading sheets, dispatch forms, and other paperwork.
+ Ensures that all required processes are performed concerning proper paperwork, seals, locking and securing trailers, etc.
+ Completes other related duties as assigned. Takes the initiative in periods of downtime to complete other duties and remain productive.

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills
+ Basic computer proficiency

+ Ability to stay focused and organized in periods of varying work volume, moving quickly to execute trailer moves safely and accurately
+ Works with a pace that matches the urgency of workflow inside the DC (e.g., wave changes)
+ Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
+ Schedule flexibility to stay late or come in early in accordance with business needs for trailer moves
+ Maintain clean driving record
Preferred Education
+ High school education or equivalent preferred; additional related education/training is a plus
Preferred Special Certifications or Technical Skills
+ CDL preferred but not required
Preferred Type of Experience the Job Requires
+ Prior Yard Driving experience (or other driving experience) preferred
Physical Requirements
+ Frequent lifting and carrying of product weighing 5 to 60 pounds
+ Continual standing and walking, either in the Yard or in the warehouse.
+ Occasional sitting in the Yard Truck or to perform office tasks
+ Frequent climbing, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and twisting
+ Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers
Work Environment
+ Exposure to extreme temperatures dependent on external climate outside and proximity to dock doors/exits while in the warehouse
+ Moderate noise level from Yard Truck, DC conveyor/sortation system and powered industrial equipment
+ Occasional vibration when operating the Yard Truck and if/when operating powered industrial equipment
+ Potential exposure to fumes and airborne particles
