    Job Description:

    As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer you will provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients including public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will provide mentoring to less experienced staff on field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and providing recommendations and report writing. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for leading design and development of plans and specifications and for providing support to field staff performing observation and inspection work. In addition, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer will review drawings and construction reports to assure compliance with plans and specifications, and work with clients to resolve any design or construction issues. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will also be responsible for providing support with preparing proposals and cost estimates, tracking and evaluating project progress, budgets, and preparation of change orders. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer candidate will be able to apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.

    Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Provide technical direction for production and completion of both routine and unique or complex projects.

    + Lead safety efforts for the team by creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrating safety practices, promoting pre-task planning and ensuring the team follows safety guidelines.

    + Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects and monitor quality standards and practices.

    + Develop an understanding of the company risk management policies and be able to manage the company’s project-related risks.

    + Responsible for conceptualizing the investigative approach and engineering design for moderate to large projects.

    + Provide review of project deliverables and supervise the analysis and formulation of recommendations in written reports to clients.

    + Lead technical training of staff and make informed decisions by applying state of the art engineering methods.

    + Provide leadership support for marketing, sales and business development.

    + Supervise less experienced engineers and provide technical support for staff on geotechnical projects.

    Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s degree in civil/geotechnical Engineering or related engineering field. Master’s degree preferred.

    + Minimum 8-11 years’ experience.

    + Professional Engineer (PE) registration. California (GE) registration preferred.

    + Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
