**Department/Program Description:** The Department of Music at Stanford is an academicdepartment consisting of 15 Academic Council faculty, 60 lecturers, 12 Adjunct Professors, 1Artist-in-Residence, 80+ undergraduate majors and minors, 24+ master's students, and 35+doctoral students. Stanford Music is home to the Centre for Computer Research in Music andAcoustics (CCRMA), the Centre for Computer-Assisted Research in the Humanities (CCARH), aswell as the Music Library and its Archive of Recorded Sound (ARS).https://music.stanford.edu/
**Position Summary:** The Department of Music is seeking a Piano Technician. The PianoTechnician will work under the supervision of the Director of Keyboard Studies and mustpossess and demonstrate a positive outlook on continuous process improvement efforts whilemaintaining a team-based and customer-focused mindset. It is critical that this position exhibitthe abilities to practice sound judgment and decision-making, effective written & oralcommunication, strong attention to detail, and respectful relationship management. Thisposition must also exhibit a strong desire to continuously learn new and unfamiliar businesstopics, policies, and procedures as they relate to managing and maintaining the department'scollection of approximately 80 keyboard instruments, including grand and upright Steinway andYamaha pianos, harpsichords, and historic instruments. The technician will collaborate with theDirector of Keyboard Studies and other technicians to set priorities for instrumentmaintenance, repairs, and long-term planning. This role requires expert technical skills, strongcollaborative and organizational abilities, and a commitment to maintaining world-classinstruments for faculty, students, and guest artists.
This is a 75% FTE, continuing, non-exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanfordcampus.

CORE DUTIES:
+ · Serve as property operations / maintenance point of contact for facilities' issues inassigned building(s), unit(s), lab(s); initiate work requests, monitor completion
+ · Perform instrumental condition assessments or troubleshooting, analyze results anddecide status; identify and establish a preventive maintenance plan; coordinate &integrate utility usage/optimization(monitor usage, gather info, providerecommendations, follow-up); coordinate maintenance logistics
+ · Handle property administration by troubleshooting, data entry & inventory; receiving;completing record keeping; establishing tracking system, gathering information and,information gathering and support for space allocation decision makers.
+ · Complete project coordination by performing the assigned tasks within departmentprojects; acting as a project coordinator/liaison; and overseeing and executing projects(limited to small, local projects), including their organization, scheduling, budgeting, andimplementation.
+ · Coordinate space management and planning activities including analyzing moves forminimal disruption; move coordination; space inventory; space allocation tracking;specifying set-ups; maximizing space utilization; providing input into facilities renewalmodel; and capital plan implementation (as assigned).
+ · May supervise assigned lower-level staff engaged in supporting the physical environmentand building systems.
* Other duties may also be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
+ · Bachelor's degree and three years related, demonstrated facilities managementexperience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
+ · Analytical skills to analyze and track complex space, equipment, and financial data.
+ · Interpersonal skills, mature judgment required to interact effectively with a broad rangeof people, including faculty and vendors, both individually and in groups.
+ · Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects with competing priorities, meetdeadlines, and project plans with short- and long-term end dates.
+ · Working knowledge of applications such as Excel and Word.
+ · Experience working with internal and external vendors and services contracting.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
+ · Expert technical skills in piano maintenance and repair
+ · Effective written and oral communication with strong attention to detail
+ · Sound judgment, decision-making, and collaborative abilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ · Frequently stand/walk, seated, performs desk-based computer tasks.
+ · Occasionally twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, reach/work above shoulders, grasplightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objectsthat weigh >40 pounds
+ · Rarely grasp forcefully, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects thatweigh >75 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ · May be exposed to noise > 80dB TWA.
+ · May working at heights 4 - 10 ft.
The expected pay range for this position is $90,270 to $104,308 per annum. The actual pay willbe pro-rated based on the 75% FTE.
