Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Klingerstown, Pennyslvania known for their ice cream socials at Klingerstown Lutheran Parish, fishing rodeo, and fireman's parade. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY We’re seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Utility Person to join our team! In this key role, you’ll help ensure that only top-quality products are packed and shipped to our customers. You’ll perform quality checks, support line operations, and provide coverage across multiple areas. Your knowledge of GMPs and product specifications will help maintain high standards of food safety and quality. This position plays a vital role in keeping our production lines running smoothly and efficiently. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace by following all safety policies and procedures. Ensure full compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. Support operations by packing product at any of five lines or ovens in the Cooked Department. Perform quality checks including weight, metal detection, and documentation using RedZone Compliance Module. Conduct morning start-up checks and end-of-day shutdown procedures. Set up and troubleshoot packaging equipment, including tape machines and box makers. Provide break and lunch coverage as needed across the department. Identify and address product quality issues, taking corrective action or notifying supervisors. Coach line workers on identifying acceptable vs. unacceptable product to reduce waste and improve efficiency. Complete daily and weekly Autonomous Maintenance line walks, recording motor temperatures and vibrations using an iPad. Follow GMP, HACCP, and SQF Level 3 standards to ensure food safety and product quality. Maintain a clean, organized, and positive work environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED High school diploma or GED equivalent. Ability to read and understand basic instructions and communicate effectively in small group settings. Basic math skills including fractions, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs. Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions and solve routine problems. Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification. PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work well with others. Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. At least 6 months of experience in the Cooked Department or equivalent. Ability to safely lift up to 30 lbs. Comfortable working indoors in a damp, changing environment. Ability to climb stairs and wear required PPE. Understanding of cross-contamination risks and prevention. Familiarity with customer product specifications. Strong retention skills for procedures and product knowledge. Ability to operate specific tools and equipment. Proficiency with computers, iPads, and basic software (spreadsheets, word processing).
