Introduction
We are looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to join our team whose work directly impacts the flow of global commerce through IBM Financial Transaction Manager (FTM) platform. FTM serves as the central nervous system for top-tier financial institutions, orchestrating complex payment lifecycles across diverse international standards like SWIFT, SEPA, and various real-time payment networks.
The team you lead and the products you delivery is critical to the operational success and security of IBM’s top-tier financial clients worldwide. At IBM, you will tackle these complex challenges using the latest software development tools, agile techniques, and modern architectural patterns. You'll focus on innovation and the integration of AI and Agentic AI to build resilient, high-performance financial solutions you can be truly proud of.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Senior Software Development Manager, you’ll manage software development, enhance product experiences, and scale our team’s capabilities. You’ll manage careers, streamline hiring, collaborate with product, and drive innovation, especially with embracing AI and Agentic AI. We seek proactive professionals passionate about team growth, software architecture, coding, and process enhancements.
Your primary responsibilities include:
•Solution Development: You will directly manage a team of developers and lead them to design and deliver impactful and critical requirements for IBM’s Financial Transaction Manager (FTM) money-moving platform. You will also have direct responsibilities for leading and delivering on our product release roadmap schedules delivering features and payment specification mandates. You will be a part of our agile, worldwide organization, utilizing your communication and leadership skills to help drive innovation and embracing AI and Agentic AI into our products.
•Client Partnership: You will have the opportunity to work directly with our clients and build relationships and manage their success with our products.
•Strategic Partnership: You will partner with product managers, clients, and other engineering leaders to build/refine the product roadmap and establish engineering goals. You will collaborate with the leadership team, presenting executive and mid-level management status reports, and continuously manage trade-offs between scope, resources and time during the development lifecycle.
•Technical Direction: Provide technical guidance by actively participating in architectural discussions, developing code, and advocating for new process improvements to drive innovation and efficiency.
Leaders are expected to spend time with their teams and clients and therefore are generally expected to be in the workplace a minimum of three days a week subject to business needs.
Required technical and professional expertise
•Management Experience: 7+ years of experience as software development manager and individual contributor
•Agile Management: Proven track-record as a technical advisor in multiple projects within an complex agile environment.
•Cloud Computing: Experience with Kubernetes/RedHat OpenShift and cloud computing technologies such as IBM, AWS, or Azure.
•Client management: 5+ years of experience with managing client relationships and deployments, resolving defects and ensuring production success.
Preferred technical and professional experience
•Financial Payments: Experience, knowledge of payment workflows and ISO20022 specifications.
•Full-Stack Development Mastery: Expertise in both front-end and back-end development.
•Software Product Delivery: Experience with publishing software releases and the many requirements/processes involved with publishing.
