Our client, a leading organization in animal care and research, is seeking an Attending Veterinarian - Part time to join their team. As an Attending Veterinarian, you will be part of the veterinary care program supporting the animal care and use initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to animal welfare which will align successfully in the organization.

What's the Job?

+ Provide oversight of the veterinary care program ensuring humane care and handling of all animals used in research, testing, and production.

+ Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases or health conditions, managing healthcare records effectively.

+ Proactively monitor changes in animal welfare regulations and contribute to the development of internal veterinary policies.

+ Interface and advise internal Principal Investigators and animal care staff to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

+ Develop and execute species-appropriate training for animal care and research staff.

What's Needed?

+ A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA accredited or equivalent institution and licensed in the State of Illinois.

+ Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in veterinary medicine.

+ Knowledge of USDA Animal Welfare Regulations and understanding of local, state, and federal policies regulating animal use.

+ Experience working with small ruminants (sheep/goats).

+ USDA accreditation or the ability to obtain it within 4 months of hire.
