    Job Description

    Join Kiawah Island Club’s Horticulture team to help maintain the lush gardens, landscape beds, and outdoor areas that define our world‑class private Club & resort experience. You’ll assist in cultivating a pristine natural environment that enhances members’ enjoyment of our coastal and marshland surroundings. This is a Full Time position and standard hours are 6:30am-2:30pm Monday-Friday with occasional weekend work necessary.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Support daily horticulture operations: planting, pruning, mulching, weeding, deadheading, and seasonal floral installations.

    + Assist with maintenance of ornamental garden beds, hedges, trees, and turf areas.

    + Monitor plant health and report signs of pests or stress; help implement integrated pest management (IPM) protocols.

    + Assist with irrigation checks, fertilization, and soil amendments.

    + Clean, sharpen, and maintain tools and equipment daily, ensuring safe and tidy storage.

    + Collaborate with horticulture staff and volunteers during community or educational events.

    + Participate in garden improvement projects and Member‑facing tasks during peak seasons.

    Skills & Requirements Qualifications

    + Preferably an Associate’s degree or coursework in horticulture, landscape, or plant science—but hands‑on experience considered.

    + At least six months to one year of landscape or horticultural experience (volunteer experience counts).

    + Knowledge of plant identification, pruning techniques, and sustainable landscape practices.

    + Ability to lift 30–50 lbs, and to sit, stand, kneel, and walk on varied terrain for extended periods.

    + Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

    + Proficiency or willingness to learn use of tools: shovels, rakes, pruners, hedge trimmers, blowers, sprayers, sod cutters.

    + Excellent teamwork, communication, and time‑management skills.

    + Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
