    Job Summary: The Vice President for Student Affairs is responsible for providing, administering, and managing a comprehensive system of enrollment services to support students as they enter and progress through the education programs at the college. Division oversight for the following departments: Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Life, and Support Services (Advising, Retention, Special Populations, Disability Services, and WIOA).

     

    • Develops and maintains a system of services for students including but not limited to: recruitment, admission, enrollment, cashiers, orientation, testing, job placement, special populations/accessibility assistance, graduation events, student complaints and discipline, WIOA, career services, and student activities;

     

    20%

     

    • Coordinates departmental activities with other federal, state and local agencies that provide student services;

    • Assists with the design and execution of special events, projects and activities as requested;

    • Develops and/or assists with the development of policies and procedures and recommends changes to effectively meet the goals and requirements of the program;

    • Maintains up-to-date policies, procedures, and state or federal laws that may impact department initiatives;

    • Supervises Title IX program;

    • Serves on various boards, committees, etc.;

     

    5%

     

    • Complies enrollment reports annually, by semester, monthly, weekly, daily, etc.; develops and maintains strategic enrollment management plan;

    • Plans and supervises registration and orientation;

    • Manages the development of Student Services recruitment materials, hard copy and virtual, web and social media;

    • Serves as the Registrar for the technical college;

    • Plans and implements graduation exercises;

     

    10%

     

    • Participates in strategic and college planning;

    • Conducts regular evaluation of services provided and adjust as needed;

     

    10%

     

    • Manages and oversees financial/budget operation of the department;

     

    5%

     

    • Monitors the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with TCSG policy manual and department procedures;

    • Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals upon reviewing of all relevant information;

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Competencies:

    • Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary vocational/technical education

    • Knowledge of assessment and strategic enrollment planning strategies

    • Knowledge of budget development and management principles

    • Knowledge of best practices and trends in the field of student services

    • Knowledge of student support areas and functions

    • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs

    • Oral and written communication skills

    • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

    • Decision making and problem-solving skills

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A Bachelor’s degree *and* Seven (7) years of related work experience

    *OR*

    • Master’s degree *and* Three (3) years of related work experience

     

    (Occupational experience must have occurred in a setting appropriate to leadership/management of student affairs.)

    Preferred Qualifications: (In addition to the minimum qualifications)

    • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in educational leadership, vocational administration, counseling, or a closely related field

    • Five (5) years full-time paid work experience within the past seven years

    • Five (5) years’ experiences in a postsecondary or higher educational environment

    • Experience with the BANNER student information system

    • Experience with compliance with the rules and regulations of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

    • Experience with student discipline, as well as resolving student grievances

     

    Supervisory Responsibility

     

    Has oversight over all positions within the division.

     

    Work Environment

     

    This job operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment and technologies, and requires business attire and professionalism.

     

    Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.

     

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

     

    This is a full-time position. This position occasionally requires longer hours and some weekend work.

     

    Travel

     

    Travel to other campus locations is required. Some overnight travel required at times for meetings and conferences.

    Master's Degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education in educational leadership, vocational administration, counseling, or a closely related area of assignment *and* Four (4) years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field or assignment that includes two year of supervisory experience. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
