    **Entity:** Clinical Care Associates (CCA) - Penn Primary Care (PPC) and Penn Specialty Practices (PSP) of Penn Medicine Medical Group (PMMG)

    **Hours:** Per Departmental Needs – Full Time

    Summary:

    + The individual in this position will be responsible for performing highly skilled, specialized non-invasive echocardiograms and vascular tests used to diagnose cardiovascular abnormalities; including 2-D and M-Mode, Spectral Doppler and color flow Doppler studies in the inpatient/outpatient laboratories, patient rooms, intensive care units, ER and OR, without physician supervision. This position will work with physicians and notify attending of EKG changes, or 2D/Doppler findings requiring immediate action and provide EMR preliminary reports in vascular patient charts. Also, assist physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms performed under conscious sedation in the laboratory and units and STAT TTE in OR, and perform exercise stress and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms.

    Responsibilities:

    + Performs highly skilled, specialized non-invasive tests used to diagnose cardiovascular abnormalities and participates in research activities using sophisticated mechanical and electronic instruments and microcomputers.

    + Helps arrange schedule for patient echocardiography studies; prioritizes requests for studies by reviewing orders and securing additional information from referring physicians when necessary.

    + Conducts M-Mode, 2-D, Doppler echocardiogram and color flow Doppler studies in the inpatient/outpatient laboratories, patient rooms, intensive care units, ER and OR, without physician supervision. Determines appropriate views; modified studies according to cardiac abnormalities detected; conducts primary readings; notifies attending physicians of EKG changes, or Doppler/echo findings requiring immediate action. Assists physicians with transesophageal echocardiograms performed under conscious sedation in the laboratory and STATT TTE in the OR. Performs exercise stress and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms.

    + Performs all diagnostic ultrasound and all other non-invasive vascular tests, including but not limited to Carotid Duplex imaging, Pulse Volume Recording and segmental pressures, lower extremity venous and arterial duplex, Reflux studies, Renal artery duplex, Arterial and Venous mapping and transcranial Doppler.

    + Provides coverage for Nuclear Cardiology Stress Testing as needed. Explains nature of test to patients and interviews patients for medical history. Prepares patients for tests, establishes IV and performs baseline EKG. Reviews tracing and note changes in heart rate and blood pressure during the test. Takes blood pressure each minute during the test and during recovery.

    + Works with lead and other technologists to coordinate daily schedule and ensure studies are performed with optimal quality and prioritized and performed timely. Must constantly adjust to the needs of the non-invasive cardiology department and go where needed as directed by the manager of non-invasive cardiology. Maintains daily schedule of all patients and assists managers with preparation of monthly statistics.

    + Copies studies to CD; maintains snap board on tests performed- including returning studies not performed with note explaining return oof study not done with date and initials; creates teaching files.

    + Responsible for marking sure all studies not completed are returned to the inpatient depot with note indicating reason for return, date and initials. If studies are canceled and not be rescheduled, responsible for removing studies from depot.

    + Performs minor maintenance on instruments; performs High Level Disinfection on TEE probes, maintains clean equipment per IFU’s for ultrasound equipment and stores equipment appropriately. Performs assessment of CIDEX OPA solution and TEE reprocessing equipment and storage when assigned.

    + Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures

    + Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

    Credentials:

    + Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) and registered or registry eligible Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) (Required)

    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    + H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

    Salary Range:

    $34.25 - $52.73/Hourly
