Job Description Summary
The Wilmington Site Technical Leader will oversee and optimize manufacturing processes at the Wilmington, NC site. In this role, you will lead and develop a high-performing technical team, including process engineers, tooling development engineers, and CNC programmers, to support site production goals and drive continuous improvement initiatives. As a key member of the site leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and high-yield manufacturing processes that align with SQDIP objectives. This position requires a balance between managing day-to-day execution of critical site projects—such as NPI, producibility, and production efforts—and defining and implementing long-term strategic improvements to enhance the manufacturing system.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
+ Provide technical leadership to support the site’s manufacturing production needs, including SQDIP improvement, strategy development and execution, NPI introduction, producibility enhancements, talent onboarding and development, capital equipment investments, tooling expenses, and change management initiatives.
+ Lead, mentor, and develop a technical team of process engineers, tooling development engineers, and CNC programmers to drive operational excellence.
+ Collaborate with part family CMEs, site leadership, and other technical leaders to define and execute the site’s manufacturing strategy.
+ Conduct strategic planning and operational activities, including capacity planning (hard and soft), budget reviews, and P&E planning and approvals.
+ Balance short-term production priorities with the implementation of long-term strategic initiatives to ensure sustainable growth and performance.
+ Drive process capability improvements by strengthening manufacturing processes and partnering with design engineers to support design changes and enhancements.
+ Ensure robust change management practices to safely maintain high-quality production that meets takt time and cost objectives.
+ Lead the adoption and implementation of digital tools to enhance manufacturing processes, including SPC, machine/process monitoring, and closed-loop process development and operations.
+ Formalize and proactively share best practices across RPCA and the broader supply chain to foster continuous improvement.
+ Stay informed on emerging technologies and methods, developing and implementing a roadmap to achieve next-generation levels of safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
+ Set the standard and provide direction to the site for CNC equipment selection, work holding tooling, cutting tools, palletized part loading, work instruction planning, CNC programming, post program processing
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university + Minimum of 5 years of Supply Chain operations experience as an experienced technical leader, manufacturing engineer, or value process engineer experience
Desired Characteristics
+ Supply Chain operations experience as an experienced technical leader, manufacturing engineer, or value process engineer
+ Prior demonstrated success in leading improvements in safety, quality, delivery and cost together (SQDC)
+ Leadership and development of a technical team
+ Demonstrated project management experience, with multiple deliverables over tight timelines
+ Experience related to the machining of blisks, spools, HPT’s, or other rotating parts of similar complexity
+ Process experience & established technical network across multiple RPCA manufacturing locations
+ Experience within a low-volume, high mix, production environment
+ In-depth experience with 5-axis milling machines with siemens controls
+ In-depth experience with Liechti 5-axis mills
+ NX CAD/CAM experience, NREC experience
+ Production machining experience
+ Closed-loop machining / automation experience
+ Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
+ Strong manufacturing operations background & management of SQDIP objectives
+ Strong technical background with experience in Rotating Parts production, CNC programming, fixturing, tooling, etc.
+ Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, especially amongst technical teams
+ Strong oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
+ Effective root cause, corrective action / preventative action skills
+ Ability to influence others, mentor / coach technical resources, and lead teams
+ Proven analytical and organizational ability
+ Demonstrated initiative to stay abreast of technology advancements
+ Demonstrated success in a cross-functional team environment
