The Department of Classical Studies in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan seeks qualified applicants for a part time, one term position to begin August 25, 2025. This is a non-tenure track position offered for one term only. This position is pending final approval.

Responsibilities*
Duties and responsibilities for this Lecturer I position are teaching a discussion section of CLCIV 101 - Introduction to Greek Civilization. This class is a First Year Writing Requirement class and thus the students complete numerous writing assignments. In addition to teaching and grading responsibilities the instructor will be required to attend all CLCIV 101 lectures, hold office hours for students, provide appropriate syllabus and course materials electronically, attend weekly meetings with the faculty instructor (Ian Moyer) and GSIs.
Required Qualifications*
Ph.D. in Classical Studies, Ancient History or Classical Archaeology
Knowledge of Greek civilization and history and experience teaching Classical Civilization courses at the college level.
Desired Qualifications*
Experience in teaching writing classes.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
