Carnegie Mellon is consistently ranked among the top 25 universities in the United States.

    Carnegie Mellon University’s division of Student Affairs is searching for a Housefellow and Coordinator of Residential Education roles. Housefellows within Residential Education are principal contributors to the residential student experience and coordinate key critical initiatives within Residential Education that serve the broader student experience while working with campus-wide programmatic initiatives designed to enhance student development.

    Encompassing more than a traditional residence life position, the Housefellow's role involves serving as students' primary meta-curricular advocate at the university while enhancing their social, academic, intellectual, artistic and personal development.

    We are actively recruiting for this role and reviewing applicants as they are received. We will continue to do so throughout the summer until the role has been filled.

    The Housefellow role is an excellent opportunity if you thrive in a vibrant, dynamic and fast-paced work environment. Housefellows at Carnegie Mellon University are experienced student affairs generalists with an unparalleled opportunity to:

    + Cultivate significant, one-on-one mentoring relationships with exceptional students;

    + Profoundly influence the growth and development of the leaders of tomorrow;

    + Create unique experiences building on the talents of a diverse, dynamic community; and

    + Engage in a Student Affairs program whose cornerstone is a deep, sustained commitment to the ongoing care of its students.

    Your core responsibilities will include:

    + Owning the creation of a thriving residential experience through ensuring the execution of the residential engagement model as curated by Residential Education. Serving as a conduit for connecting students to the broader meta-curricular experience of Carnegie Mellon University.

    + Select, train, lead, supervise and evaluate a team of Community Advisor(s) (CA) and Resident Assistants (RA).

    + Serve as primary university contact and advocate for students living within a designated residential house community. Providing one-on-one mentorship, support and guidance to students through individual relationships aimed at enhancing student success.

    + Coordinate emergency response and on-going case management for designated residential population. Serve in Student Affairs on-call rotation for campus crisis response.

    + Manage House budget, overseeing community expenses related to programming and community development.

    + Liaise and collaborate with campus partners including but not limited to Housing Services, Division of Student Affairs, College Liaisons, Counseling and Psychological Services, and academic partners to provide community and student support.

    In addition to fulfilling the responsibilities of the Housefellow role, Coordinators for Residential Education also oversee and coordinate a critical initiative within Residential Education. The pivotal initiatives within Residential Education currently align to the core objectives of our residential engagement model, student staff selection, training and development, leadership development, and student success. Candidates with strengths in one or more of these areas should highlight their experiences in the cover letter.

    The Housefellow role at Carnegie Mellon is a live-on role that serves in the Student Affairs emergency response duty rotation to ensure appropriate management of campus emergencies and crises. Housefellows are provided university-owned or -managed housing that is proximate to campus.

    Flexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Student Affairs and Residential Education. Candidates for the role of Housefellow and Coordinator of Residential Education will have a record of dynamic student-centered leadership. We are looking for someone who shares our values and who will support the mission of the university through their work.
