    JOB SUMMARY

    The Pilot Plant Engineering Co-op is a full time, 8+ month assignment, that supports the team by completing tasks such as, process and safety improvements, documentation management, and process troubleshooting. This co-op position allows the individual to be exposed to multiple facets within engineering and assists in creating long term career aspirations. This position works closely with Innovation Center leadership and engineers, technicians, chemists, R&D, and other engineers in the organization. The hours are approximately Monday to Friday from 7:30am – 4pm.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Engineering Support

    + Provide engineering capability for the facility including general engineering, mass & energy balances, PFD’s, P&ID’s, lay-outs and general design.

    + Safety Support

    + Assist with process safety management documentation and procedures, complete necessary permits for confined space, lock-out tag-out, and other safety procedures, and assist with environmental permitting.

    + Operations Support

    + Shadow Plant Operations, Maintenance and Chemists to understand different areas of the pilot plant and the oilseed process.

    + Project Support

    + Execute a capital project, including development of scope of work, develop and follow a budget, equipment specification, purchase requests, and coordination of contractors.

    + Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

    + A High-School Diploma or equivalent experience is required.

    + Progress toward a bachelor’s degree in ChemE or MechE is required.

    + Experience with 2D/3D modeling in Autodesk Suite is a plus.

    + Knowledge of oilseed processes and mechanical systems is advantageous.

    + Hands-on experience or mechanical background is highly preferred.

    + Capable of reporting and technical writing.

    + Forklift Certification or ability to obtain.

    + Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office applications.

    + Experience with safety processes such as confined space, lock-out tag-out, fall protection, NFPA 36 and PSM, is a plus.

    + Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

    + Ability to follow oral, written, and technical instructions accurately.

    + Self-motivated; takes initiative to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

    + High Integrity and ethics.

    + Shift work (nights) for minimum of 2 weeks for training/shadowing.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    + Approximately 75% spent in plant environment.

    + Plant environment conditions include some exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise; potential work at heights, in confined spaces, and in inclement weather conditions.

    + Approximately 25% of time spent in the office environment.

    + Office environment conditions are normal for an office environment.

    Base Salary - $ 41,600 – 53,000k USD Annually.
