    General Information About The Job:

    + Lays building materials, including concrete and brick, and constructs or repairs masonry surfaces or structures.

    + Prepares surfaces prior to beginning work

    + Lays blocks or bricks following blueprints, plans, or drawings

    + Lays out work using chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, and levels

    + Mixes cement using hoes, cement-mixing equipment, and/or hand tools

    + Has knowledge and ability to use brick ruler

    + Cuts or breaks bricks and concrete using hammers, powered abrasive saws, paving breakers, drills, and/or hand tools

    + Molds expansion joints and edges using edging tools, joints, and straightedge

    + Performs finish masonry work, installs mixes mortar

    + Erects staging or scaffolding if the job requires

    + Screens sand, mixing it with cement and water to obtain consistency necessary

    + Installs all work plumb and level

    + Smooths mortar and removes excess material with trowel

    Requirements:

    + Dependable, reliable, fulfills responsibilities.

    + Physical activity using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.

    + Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing and hard hats when needed.

    + Working in various weather conditions

    Qualifications:

    + Minimum of three years’ experience of masonry restoration

    + Must have own basic masonry tools.

    + Must be able to travel to job site locations.

    + Must be able to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders, lift and carry objects weighing up-to 80 pounds.

    + Experience working on historic properties is a must.
