Position Summary
The Assistant Professor (Series II) & Program Director for the Midwifery Program at MSM provides strategic leadership and comprehensive administration of the Midwifery Program. This role encompasses curriculum development, faculty recruitment and evaluation, student advisement, and ensures rigorous compliance with accreditation standards. The Program Director oversees daily operations, promotes program excellence, and fosters strategic partnerships to advance MSM’s mission of health equity.
This is a full-time, 12-month faculty position within the Division of Graduate Education Nursing, encompassing teaching, clinical practice, service, and scholarship responsibilities. MSM utilizes time and effort certification to document all professional faculty contributions. Program Directors maintain a 3-3-2 teaching load (3 courses in Fall and Spring semesters, 2 courses in Summer semester).
This position requires full-time, on-site presence and does not offer hybrid or remote work arrangements.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Licensure
• Earned doctoral degree ( DNP , PhD, or EdD) from an accredited institution of higher education
• Active, unencumbered Georgia RN and midwifery license
• Current national AMCB (American Midwifery Certification Board) certification
• Holds or is eligible for DEA licensure
Professional Experience
• Minimum five years of full-time equivalent CNM clinical experience
• Experience in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development and program administration
• Demonstrated commitment to health equity and caring for underserved populations
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in nursing education, particularly at the graduate level and/or master’s level RN entry programs (highly desirable)

Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Administration
• Serve as the administrative leader of the midwifery program with comprehensive oversight of all program aspects
• Develop and manage midwifery program curriculum in alignment with MSM’s mission and ACME , CCNE , AACN standards
• Provide leadership for didactic, clinical, and simulation curriculum components
• Manage program administration, including faculty workload assignments and course scheduling, in consultation with the Chair and Senior Associate Dean
• Participate in budgeting processes and monitor program-specific budget allocations
Curriculum & Educational Excellence
• Lead faculty collaboration in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation
• Utilize course and program evaluation results for continuous and systematic program improvement
• Teach didactic and clinical courses, including collaborative oversight of DNP projects
• Provide direct patient care and precept nurse-midwifery students per faculty workload agreements
Faculty & Student Development
• Recruit, evaluate, and support faculty and staff members
• Oversee comprehensive student recruitment, advisement, and progression initiatives
• Engage faculty in activities related to student recruitment, admission, retention, and progression
Compliance & Accreditation
• Ensure program compliance with accreditation standards and national regulations
• Manage annual program reports, website content, and published materials
• Oversee program-specific continuous review and evaluation processes
• Prepare for self-studies and accreditation site visits
• Maintain compliance with state and national regulatory requirements
External Relations & Partnerships
• Collaborate with stakeholders to promote and enhance program visibility and impact
• Foster strategic partnerships that advance the program’s mission and goals
Knowledge & Expertise
• Current knowledge of CNM practice and related professional issues
• Current knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation requirements for nurse-midwifery and RN educational programs
Essential Skills & Certifications
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work full-time in person
• Current Basic Life Support ( BLS ) and Healthcare Provider certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ) certification recommended
