SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, the Engineering Operations Liaison I provides critical interaction and liaison between the on-aircraft hangar Operations teams and the Repair Engineering division in a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul facility. This position assists Operations in detailed usage of aircraft documentation (i.e. Structural Repair Manual) prior to raising Engineering Service Requests for repairs beyond the SRM. Assists both Repair Engineering and Operations in obtaining a clear definition of work to be accomplished (i.e. aircraft damage).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Coordinates the technical response to Operations from Repair Engineering through continued interaction and visibility with Production personnel.
+ Provides technical support and guidance to Engineering personnel of various disciplines; assists and guides Engineers in accomplishing repair data.
+ Serves as the primary focal point for Operations regarding Repair Engineering and technical issues related to aircraft in heavy maintenance.
+ Researches approved and acceptable data to find alternate solutions to a variety of parts issues.
+ Assists maintenance leads and master mechanics in technical support with drawings insuring the correct effectivity and aid in hard to find items in installation or detailed drawings.
+ Researches and reviews engineering data (drawings, reports, manuals, etc.) to define aircraft primary and secondary structure or systems to determine if damage falls within the confines of the Structural Repair Manual or if needs to be elevated to Repair Engineering.
+ Assists in raising Engineering Service Requests and insure the ESR’s are accurate in grammar, description, and detail required to expedite the necessary engineering.
+ Coordinates with Engineering Project Leads on ongoing heavy maintenance priorities and repair efforts.
+ Liaise between Repair Engineering and Aircraft Project Managers / Maintenance Technicians.
+ Assists in safety critical areas using specific skills acquired (i.e. Airframe & Powerplant License).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
+ Detailed knowledge of aircraft structure and systems.
+ Knowledge of fundamental maintenance operations and practices and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
+ Strong understanding and ability to apply information from Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPCs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and other aircraft reference materials.
+ Ability to independently review existing technical data, technical drawings, and previous history for entire airframe structure, avionics, indication, lighting, and electrical systems, mechanical / hydraulic systems and components, engine pylon/struts, and landing gear.
+ Aptitude to interpret and use aircraft manufacturing, assembly, and installation drawings.
+ Ability to understand regulatory requirements for airworthiness (including FAA and various foreign authorities).
+ PC skills including the MS Office suite.
+ Effective communication skills.
+ Ability to perform basic and intermediate mathematical functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Licensed FAA (or equivalent military or foreign authority) Airframe and Powerplant certification (or similar, i.e. licensed under FAA Part 145 Repair Station authority, EASA B1/B2, etc.) or degree in related field, and a minimum of six (6) years related aircraft experience.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee will also be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Compensation
The base salary for this position is $30.00 - $41.50 (expressed as hourly for non-exempt), exclusive of benefits or potential bonuses. This position is eligible for an annual corporate bonus. If you are hired at ATS, your final base hourly rate will be based on factors such as skills, education and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range noted above is the full base hourly range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous benefits package, as detailed below.
