    Our Charlottesville, Virginia,** **Machine Shop** **has an immediate opening for** **Engineering Technician 3** **to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The successful candidate will possess knowledge of and experience with machining capabilities, metal fabrication, and assembly design. The ET 3 will interface with numerous departments and will directly support cross-campus collaboration.     Job Description and Qualifications** **:

    Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.

     

    Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.

     

    Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).

     

    Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.

     

    Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.

     

    May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

    Responsibilities:

    Provides technical support to the factory floor as well as engineering teams

     

    Collaborates on manufacturability, providing feedback on capabilities and processes

     

    Interfaces with cross-campus teams in a professional manner

     

    Develops estimates and proposals for sub and final assemblies

     

    Champions first-time-builds within manufacturing

     

    Provides tactile build support; operates machining and assembly equipment

     

    Establishes manufacturing methods through process and documentation development

     

    Conducts experimental projects driving innovation and technological advancement

     

    Inspects parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparators

     

    Routinely maintains equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific to division requirements

     

    Accurately and regularly performs statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements

     

    Actively implements lean initiatives by identifying and providing recommendations on areas for improvement, effectively applying lean concepts and tools in work area

     

    Observes all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintains a clean and orderly work area

     

    Performs other related responsibilities as requested

    Basic Qualifications:

    High School Diploma or equivalent** **with a minimum of 4 years of Programming/Engineering experience

     

    Experience reading and following blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions

     

    Experience with machine shop mathematics, may include trigonometry

     

    Experienced with making advanced machine setups and understands machining capabilities

     

    Experience with sub and final assembly build structure

     

    Experience with lean initiatives

     
     

    The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:

    CMM experience

    Experience with Model Based Engineering

     

    Experience using Master Cam

     

    Experience with Program fixturing using conversational controller

     

    Experience with GD&T standards

    Estimating experience

    Experience with sheet metal work, including SigmaNEST software.

     

    Salary Range: $55,800.00 - $93,000.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
