    Overview

     

    Status: Non-exempt, Full-time

     

    Hours Per Week: 37.5

     

    Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

     

    Scope of Position: Process expenses from all Corps and Area Services into the accounting package while adhering to The Salvation Army’s accounting policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    + Apply accounting principles and practices following standardized, well-established procedures, regulations, and guidelines.

    + Institute safeguards to ensure the integrity and maintenance of the accounting system.

    + Assist with the preparation of financial-related materials for audits.

    + Assist in month-end closing procedures.

    + Input financial-related data into computer systems and maintain financial reports and records related to programs.

    + Maintain an unpaid invoice file; input invoices and other delinquent data into the accounts payable module after invoices/data have been reviewed for accuracy and coded to proper accounts and departments within the program.

    + Maintain and oversee maintenance of financial documents (check vouchers, payroll, etc.).

    + Always maintain strict confidentiality.

    + Record and post expenses into the computer system.

    + Provide coverage for the Accounts Receivable Clerks.

    Qualifications

    + An associate degree in accounting or business management, or three years of experience, is highly preferred.

    + Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.

    + Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.

    + High attention to detail and accuracy.

    + Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    + Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.

    + Should be well organized, show strong initiative, and have adequate follow-through.

    + Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
