    The Instructional Support Associate (ISA) plays a crucial role in supporting the Youth Justice Institute's training and technical assistance efforts at the University at Albany, with a primary focus on the New York State Outreach Certificate Program. This position is responsible for organizing, managing, and maintaining digital training content within the university's Learning Management System (Brightspace).

     

    Working closely with subject matter experts, instructors, and project staff, the ISA ensures a smooth and user-friendly learning experience for participants by providing technical support, managing course logistics, and monitoring engagement. This role advances the University's broader mission of public service and applied research by strengthening workforce development and continuing education opportunities for youth-serving professionals across New York State.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    + Manage and Organize LMS Course Content

    + Build and maintain course shells in Brightspace; upload learning modules, activities, and resources provided by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs); ensure technical accuracy, consistent formatting, and effective organization of training materials.

    + Provide Technical and User Support

    + Respond to instructor and participant technical inquiries, troubleshoot access or upload issues, and post timely announcements; collaborate with ITS on platform settings and updates.

    + Monitor and Report Course Progress

    + Generate and analyze reports on learner participation, assignment completion, and course progress; flag concerns and support accountability systems.

    + Coordinate Training Logistics and Orientation

    + Assist in planning and delivering orientation sessions for facilitators and participants; ensure all stakeholders are prepared for course engagement.

    + Support Broader Training and Technical Assistance Initiatives

    + Assist with the organization and management of LMS content for additional YJI projects or public-facing workshops beyond the Outreach Certificate.

    + Other Reasonable Duties as Assigned

    + Perform additional tasks that support the goals and operations of the Youth Justice Institute as directed by the supervisor or project leadership

    Functional and Supervisory Relationships:

    + Reports to: The Director of Training and Technical Assistance, Youth Justice Institute

    + Functional supervision:

    + YJI's Project Manager and Senior Training and Technical Assistance Specialist

    + Works closely with: Subject Matter Expert(s), YJI staff, DCJS partners, and ITS staff

    + Supervises the following positions: None

    Job Requirements:

    + Ability to upload, organize, and manage digital content within a Learning Management System (LMS)

    + Competence in troubleshooting basic technical issues

    + Attention to detail in formatting and consistency

    + Ability to maintain documentation and track multiple deadlines

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills

    + Must be authorized to work in the United States

    + Must be able to commit to the full 6-month appointment with the option to extend contingent on funding and/or other University rules and regulations

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.

    + One to three years of relevant experience

    + Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community

    + Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + 2 to 4 years of experience in supporting online learning, instructional design, or training coordination within higher education, workforce development, or youth-serving organizations

    + Master's degree in education, instructional technology, public administration, or a related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization

    Working Environment:

    Additional Information:

    Professional Rank and Salary Range: Instructional Support Associate, SL-2, $54,222

    Special Notes:

    + This position is classified as temporary, with the initial appointment period being for 6 months, with potential appointment extensions contingent on funding and program needs. Temporary assignments may conclude earlier or be extended at the employer's discretion.
