About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Supervisor, Nutrition Services to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. In this role, you’ll be a vital part of our support team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Supervisor will p rovide effective departmental supervision; ensuring all staff adhere to food handling and service standards. Knowledge in food preparation and modified diets is essential in providing patients and customers with meals that are both nutritionally adequate as well as meet high standards of quality. In this role, you must be able to address customer and staff concerns in a timely manner; resulting in quality outcomes.
What You’ll Do
+ Is responsible for all phases of hiring, training, coaching, and evaluating of the kitchen staff.
+ Assist in work schedules for kitchen, Café, representatives and diet office staff; takes into consideration census, holidays and requested time off.
+ Identifies strengths of staff, determines work area placement for success and encourages growth and advancement.
+ Performs scheduled and unannounced department inspection walk-throughs; documents findings required for NYSDOH and Joint Commission; utilizing standardized forms.
+ Ensures meals are served according to the pre-determined schedule, staff is handling food in a safe and sanitary manner, using proper serving utensils to portion correctly and foods are transported in a clean and sanitary manner.
Additional Responsibilities
+ Provides feedback in a timely manner via e-mail or verbal communication.
+ Assists with cash handling procedures in the absence of Administrative Assistant; ex. makes change, counts cash drawers, notes discrepancies, etc.
+ Assists with Catering Events: checks S:Catering drive and Catering Binder for scheduled events, notifies Inventory/Purchaser of items needed, sets up, delivers and picks up Catering Events in absence of caterer, or as needed.
+ Submits Work Orders in a timely manner via intranet and communicates activities to all pertinent team members.
+ Conducts staff meetings on a routine and as needed basis.
+ Assures staff competency in job duties held and the timeliness of performance evaluations.
+ Orients, trains and develops department staff to provide the highest levels of patient and customer service; ensuring all staff follows customer service standards.
+ Hires staff with an emphasis on customer service skills, and strives for a positive work environment.
+ Creates a team environment; holding staff accountable for their actions.
+ Performs routine safety, sanitation, and quality audits; reporting out deficiencies noted for correction.
+ Proactively addresses departmental policies and procedures; reviews and recommends revisions as necessary.
+ Communicates positively with all levels of the organization.
+ Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on: physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria, for all populations served.
+ Knowledge of basic principles of nutrition and understanding of modified diets
+ Assures all food is handled and prepared in a safe and sanitary manner, compliant with NYSDOH, Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
+ Assures high level of patient satisfaction with food temperatures, food quality, and courtesy of those responsible for the delivery of meals.
+ Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in alignment with Saratoga Hospital values
+ Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support health, healing, and service excellence
+ Perform support and administrative responsibilities with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency
+ Use hospital systems and tools to document care and support operations
+ Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and support patient and staff satisfaction
+ Serve as a positive, professional representative of our hospital and community
What You Bring
+ Minimum high school graduate or GED equivalent. College, trade or vocational school preferred. Minimum of two years experience in hospital, restaurant or related foodservice.
+ ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills
+ Commitment to providing patient-first, high-quality service
+ Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
