    Job Description

    Our Company:

    SpecialtyRx is a Long-Term Care pharmacy providing pharmaceutical services to long term care facilities and assisted living communities. SpecialtyRx takes pride in delivering personalized care and quality pharmacy services.

    Responsibilities:

    + Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and proper administration.

    + Ensure that dispensed medicines are correctly packaged and labeled.

    + Oversee the ordering of controlled substances.

    + Communicate with facilities’ nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members regarding medication-related queries.

    + Supervise the preparation of any controlled substance medications.

    + Educate, train, and document training for all controlled substance technicians.

    + Ensure security features of the control room are being adhered to and make changes as needed.

    + Previous experience with ordering, storing and receiving Narcotics.

    + Experience with Narcotic Diversion prevention (which includes working on metrics, auditing, investigations and preparation of reports for Controlled Substances (CS).

    + Must have basic experience with ordering from vendors.

    + Prior experience utilizing automated dispensing cabinet systems and controlled substance monitoring.

    + Ensuring compliance with all state and federal (DEA) regulations including SpecialtyRx’s Controlled Substance Department Compliance Checklist.

    + Handling all inspections on controlled substances and the control room.

    + Reporting of all controlled substance theft/loss or major discrepancies to appropriate regulatory authorities and internal management (PIC, Compliance Officer, HR, Operations).

    Requirements:

    + Active Kentucky Pharmacist with a valid state Board of Pharmacy license is a must.

    + Previous experience in Long Term Care preferred.

    + Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

    + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

    + Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently.

    + Must be multi-tasking and reliable.

    + The Narcotic Pharmacist will carry out specified duties with competence and due diligence.

    + Computer literate, knowledge of Frameworks ECM and LTC system, PLUS.

     

    Shift: Monday – Friday and every other weekend 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
