Our new Arista Dallas hospital will be opening later this Fall along the Dallas North Tollway, just south of I-635. We are excited to begin building our Dallas team with dedicated veterinary professionals that want to provide the highest quality care for our patients in an environment driven by our hospital ownership group.

Veterinary Internal Medicine Technician/Assistant
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Internal Medicine Technician/Assistant to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will work closely with our veterinarians and medical staff to provide exceptional care to pets with complex and chronic illnesses. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare, a background in veterinary care, and an interest in Internal Medicine.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
+ Patient Care: Assist in the care and monitoring of Internal Medicine patients, including focusing on treating, and managing complex diseases and conditions affecting the internal organs of animals dealing with a wide range of chronic, and critical medical conditions that cannot be easily treated with routine procedures or medications. This will include the care of patients in the ICU.
+ Diagnostic Support: Collect diagnostic samples (blood, urine, biopsy, etc.) for testing and assist with diagnostic imaging procedures (X-rays, CT scans, Ultrasounds, etc.). Set up and monitor endoscopy procedures, bone marrow procedures, and joint taps. Know basic microscope use and staining techniques.
+ Client Education: Communicate with pet owners about treatment plans, medication administration, side effects, and post-treatment care instructions. Demonstrate how to properly administer SQ fluids and use a continuous glucose monitor.
+ Clinical Procedures: Assist with routine and specialized procedures such as catheter placement, blood draws, and administering injections.
+ Laboratory Work: Prepare and process laboratory samples, run diagnostics, and assist in interpreting results. Know how to prepare blood smears.
+ Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for patients, including treatment plans, progress notes, and any adverse reactions.
+ Inventory Management: Ensure that endoscopy and other internal Medicine-related supplies are stocked and properly maintained/cleaned.
+ Team Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure a high standard of care and patient comfort.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ High school diploma or equivalent (required).
+ 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant
+ Veterinary Technician Certification (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred.
+ Experience in veterinary internal medicine or a similar specialty is highly desirable but not required.
+ Experience with endoscopy and endoscopic equipment preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, animal behavior, and procedures.
+ Proficiency with medical equipment, including IV pumps, infusion pumps, and diagnostic tools.
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate and clear explanations to clients.
+ Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
+ Ability to lift and carry animals and equipment up to 50 pounds.
+ Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
+ Comfort working with potentially ill and difficult-to-handle animals.
