• Heavy equipment Operator I (Night Shift)

    Position Summary:

    Under direct supervision is learning how to operate overhead crane or other heavy equipment. Moves material to and from designated areas.  Inspects incoming material and fills out necessary paperwork.  Conducts daily inspection of equipment.  Follows all safety rules and procedures.  Maintains a safe and clean work area.  Handles special projects, as assigned.

    Essential Functions:

    Under limited supervision operates heavy equipment such as a Front Loader or Wheel Loader.

     

    * Primarily working in the Yard, will load and unload trucks, sort, and stack mats, and keep up general appearance of the Yard.

    * Inspects material and fills out necessary paperwork. Conducts daily inspection of equipment.

    * Follows all safety rules and procedures.

    * Maintains a safe and clean work area.

    * Handles special projects, as assigned.

     

    Able to demonstrate knowledge of general equipment, maintenance, care, and use of safety equipment on each piece of machinery.

     

    Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions on material paperwork.

     

    Good written and oral communication skills.

     

    This position will work straight nights (7p-7a), 12 days on and 4 days off.

    Education& Experience Requirements:

    High School Diploma or equivalent. Entry level. Able to demonstrate knowledge of general equipment, maintenance, care and use of safety equipment on each piece of machinery. Understand and demonstrate proper rigging for lifting of material and other equipment, hand signals, spotter responsibility and lesser skilled work. Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions on material paperwork. Good written and oral communication skills. CDL is preferred.
