    Position Description

    At a Glance

     

    Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aApprentice Tool and Die Maker to join theWiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. This apprenticeship program is designed to provide hands-on training and mentorship, equipping you with the skills and knowledge necessary to become a skilled Tool and Diemaker. Successful completion of the 8,000 hour apprenticeship will result in the receipt of a Journeryperson card from the State of Connecticut. This apprenticeship is the foundation, providing structured training in the beginning of your career with us at Legrand, Wiremold.

     

    What Will You Do?

     

    + Assist in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of precision tools, dies, and fixtures.

    + Operate and maintain various machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment.

    + Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.

    + Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.

    + Collaborate with experienced Tool and Diemakers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

    + Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

    + Participate in classroom training sessions to enhance technical knowledge and skills.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    + High school diploma or equivalent.

    + Completion of an Advanced Manufacturing or other certificate program covering machining, inspection, shop math, and related topics

    Preferred Skills:

    + Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing and machining.

    + Basic understanding of mathematics and technical drawing.

    + Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    + Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

    + Good communication skills.
